JR, I am the Contest Holder. I do READ the comments...
My Intention was to run a contest for a Week, as this is the 2nd contest which I have run, I have found that the Logo's always need a little adjustment. Your "Last Minute" entry was definitely not my preferred choice and I was a bit disgusted at your comments:
"but i guess if they knew any better they wouldnt be on this site getting work so cheaply.."
I think 99 Designs is an excellent concept. I think its fair, its very creative and I think it brings out the best in Design.
You knew the Prize before entering the contest, you were not forced to enter and there was absolutely no mention of T-shirts in the Brief. I thing you should apologize to all, as you should not compete in a contest if you act like this.
I gave you feedback for "next time" you enter a contest, but it seems you know "everything" already...
i doubt i'm insulting the CH or the winner..
as i doubt that either of them are checking here after the contest is over.
i just feel bad or the actual CLIENT>when they get the printing bill..
t-shirt or not.. in my professional opiinion, too many colors for a logo for a company of their size.. thats all im saying...
its not wethehr if its in the brief or not.. its a professional responsibility to the client to take into account their budget and i doubt that a small restaurant has a lot of 4 color printing ..
signing off..
..
JR - it is very unlike me to comment on what seems to have turned into a slanging match regarding this contest - however, as I was someone who submitted designs - have watched this unfold since the contest was won.
firstly - congrats to Visual Dreamz on winning.
secondly - JR - I do agree with you that if a winner is chosen before the deadline, then the contest should be closed early to be fair - otherwise designers can waste time submitting for nothing!
to me, the most important thing as a designer is to read and understand the brief correctly - you seem very hooked on the t-shirt aspect of things, and as that clearly was not a pre-requisite for this contest - am not sure why you are following that path??
for what it's worth - maybe you would have been in a better position if you had actually spelt the name of the restaurant correctly!
jr your design is clean, and i see nothing,
hey jr! big head, dont believed so much in your self!!!
hey jr! accept that your a loser! look at your design ! you dont respect the CH as well as the winner, dont intimidate the beautiful winner,
dude.. you.. didn't.. win.. get over it.
just cause its not in the brief doesnt mean its not important!
but if you think silkscreen is not important.....
go to your closet and tell me if any shirt with a logo on that you bought at a store ( or related to this client - as a memento from a restaurant ) are they inkjet printed ... oh wait.. they are silkscreened...
now...
concert t-shirts may be color but you also pay 35 dollars for a tshirt..
i don't think thats reasonable for a small restaurant.. thats all..
so i'm talking about designing a logo that is appropriate to the clients budget..
but you have fun on 99cakes. com
JR, i don't see any mention of silkscreen around the brief. and come on, are you stuck in the timeline or something? i can even buy a cake with my photo on it. geez. let it go.
9 colors in silkscreen doesn't cost a lot to print?
give me the name of your tshirt printer.. cause that will cost a LOT where i come from..
i wasnt saying the design wasnt nice.. congratulations indeed to the winner.. ...
it just concerns me that lke many contests here...
they've dazzled the client with a color that will be very costly to produce..
by the time they figure that part out ...
both the designer and the CH are long gone and have cashed their checks..
the end client that now has to figure out how to print the logo in one or two colors to meet their budget
and are going to be disappointed as why it doesn't look as nice as when they first saw it on the web.
so its not about the design, its a production issue and designing a log appropriate for the clients size and their investment in printing.
i guess i care to much about the actual end client.. silly me.. i forgot it was all just about winning the contests.
JR stop complaining, I'm sure the CH knows what he's doing and it doesn't cost that much to print those. Congrats to whoever won.
they're gonna spend a fortune on printing those logos on t-shirts.!! : )
but i guess if they knew any better they wouldnt be on this site getting work so cheaply..
you didnt have to pick as soon as the contest ended..
you at least have shown them to them.. they could have liked these better , no?
or.. if they had made a decision already... .. why not close the contest?
this site's whole process is very strange to me. oh well. no problem...
#9 & #10 Congratulations Visual Dreamz, the Family likes both Logo's.
If you can contact me via mail, we can arrange payment details.

#19 Nice Logos JR, a little late unfortunately as they already decided 1 hr ago.
submitted a simple, clean, friendly logo
easy to reproduce.. very few colors.. just three.. !
hand-drawn style type to communicate organic.
