Sorry for the delay everyone, I had a hard time cornering the client over the holiday weekend. He has chosen a design by squarelogo. There were a several that we really liked, and in the end it came down to his personal preference.

Thanks to everyone who's entered so far. There are a lot of good entries here.
Here are a few thoughts...
Simple, flat-color logos are generally getting the higher scores.
We're seeing some clever metaphors for the themes of 'quality control', 'research', and 'pharmaceutical' - that's great, not absolutely required, but it's preferred.
A really strong logo is the most important thing - good text treatment and font choice is just the icing on the cake.
