meadow, you've got the travel feel (around the globe), professional and it's got a gold treasure feel... you hit the nail on the head my friend, IMHO of course.

Here's some feedback from a graphics designer friend of mine:

    1. Determine the smallest size that it will be used. (example: do you think you might want to use the icon or full logo as an icon somewhere on each page of your tour book? It has to be pretty small not to take up too much space---what is that size and will it be in color?) Test out small sized copies of the logo…does it “read?” (another example: are you going to produce any SWAG? Embroidery/stitching for caps or garment labels are difficult with some icons and words in the desired size.)
    2. Test the logo in B/W (grayscale)—does everything still “read”? (and in small size?)
    3. At a glance, is it distinctive? Is the shape easy to understand?
    4. Color is often a memory trigger—the combination of color and shape can help recognition.
    5. Is it distinctive in relative industries…travel, gaming, etc.

#1 -- Danny, thanks for your entry. This is closer to what I'd like to see but still not it. I'm not sure I like the stylized stick figure and Quest doesn't seem related to anything. This needs to be fun and invite people on an adventure ... a quest to see new things ... and with the possibility of finding golden treasure.

#2 -- Thanks for your entry although I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. The compass makes it look more like geocache event and the type looks like a casino. We need something for a sophisticated audience and people who are travel-oriented ... even if it's arm chair travel.
