We have to remember too, the client is the client... they know their business and how they want it branded. We (as designers) can think otherwise all day long. I'm not saying they are right, but it's their company and money. Just accept (doesn't mean agree) and move on.

Jackie - not loosing sleep over it, and FADZ won't be your last client like this :)

This contest taught me a lot. Didn't like the lesson learning process, but will be better for future endevours. I hope you all are too!

CH already said he wouldn't use anyone's here, but was honorable enought to pay the top pick for the work done.

my advice to you FADZ and others is: always always research what you want. There is nopoint paying for something that you regret down the line. Don't rush into creating contests. If you have to brainstorm with others for weeks or months and then we will be able to design something that hits the spot.. my two cents..

simply noting that your designs may well not be used. but heh, that's up to the ch.

@corkycrumbs. If you are not happy with the results of this contest and CH decisions over it, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the one to blame for.

WebOrigination, you're right on the mark.
Bravo MTLNS for interpreting CH needs and being the recipient of CH guilt!
But I'd be shocked if your logos were ever used by CH as the imagery simply doesn't make sense.
So as designers, hopefully seeking to make clients shine, we all lose here :(

FADZ, Let us in on the other design submissions you got? Was if from another site like this? Maybe we can go there?

How many sites like this are there? We (as designers) have to understand for $40 bucks, it's a small payout for a company to get ideas and see what you don't want. Way cheaper than in-house marketing (paying benefits and office space) or than going to an agency, where you'd have to pay the 750 up front to see designs and that's not towards final costs.

I'm guessing we're all fighting for Gas money! a 100 here and there, we'll take it! It's low balling the talent but as artists you do what you gotta do.

Hey lets car pool! LOL I think I'm just delirious from this.

With all due respect! My thing is why would someone offer a high payout if they didnt trust the quality of work in first place! I mean if one wasnt sure about finding the right design then why put bigger bill on stakes. Just doesnt make sense.

I do not agree with the outcome of the contesta personally. Thats what happened with the Rachel Reinhardt contest too.
    Regards!

FADZ... Wasn't trying to insult you, or anyone else. It just "felt" like this was a scam to me, personally, because: 1) You let the contest end without picking a winner - or at least commenting on this page that you were unable to get what you wanted; and 2) Because there was not a lot of feedback to designers and/or here on this page.

Again, this is just a different system for most designers - and a flawed one in my opinion. You have to understand that a lot (LOT!!!!) of people put a great deal of time and energy into this project for you - in hopes of not only winning the money / contest, but also because they wanted to make you the Contest Holder happy.

Many of us are new to this site, but I'm certain that most people using this site have been designers, or web people, or marketing people for many years. And, we know from experience that it is more often than not, better for us to try to give you, the client, a little guidance on what we feel is best for you / your company. Again, I'm not trying to knock MTLNS or any of the designs - but when you think about it, what does what you do / your company have to do at all with a wrench or a light bulb? Nothing at all. You too will come to recognize this one day. And, when you do, you'll be right back at the drawing board - wanting a logo that focuses on a ticket, or a computer / mouse, or something that ties-in the Internet / online software - with a ticket. (You may not think so now, but please come back in 90 days and I guarantee you'll agree then.)

At any rate... Thank you for holding this contest and giving us all a shot at helping your company. And, thank you for rewarding MTLNS. That was very kind of you and you did not have to do that. So, you've proven that you are a good person.

    Thanks!

FADZ - You already answered the question for me. "if we dont use any of the submitted logos, I still have to pick a winner?" You did what I hoped you would/should do... award your top design for efforts for some amount of money!

The rest of us (especially new guys) just need to remind ourselves that 99 Designs has implemented a "Guarenteed" system where CHs can Guarentee a winner/payment. We'll be drawn to those more often. This one wasn't, and we were driven by the high ticket. Major risk. Lesson learned. And for me, I learned a lot. I have been out of this loop for years. And was so reminded of so many lessons I've learned before that haven't changed in this biz.

FADZ, you know you'll have many people watching your site to see your new brand! So if you traffic is high, you know why!

EmmaTaylor I so agree with your post. Pick/Award a concept and then work with the designer on a final. I feel 99Designs should help CHs understand that. Like what WebOrigination said too. Oh and believe me, I've signed up over at crowdspring too.

MTLNS - Rock on! Drinks for everyone?

FADZ - post him as the winner do he gets his recontion on the site, even though the payout was different. (not sure if you can edit that on the contest.

    'hats off'
