Our entire panel would like to say thank you to everybody that has submitted entries. As the contest went on, the logos became more and more difficult to choose. There were some that we studied very closely, and for the past two days, we have discussed in depth which one we felt would fit best with our proposed web site design. In the end, we have decided on #147, by Design.

We very much appreciate all of your hard work and creative input.

Thank you for all of the entries! There is some really imaginative stuff going on here. We have to say that right now our favorite is #122. That has a classy yet playful feel to it, and we love the olive. That could be something used for a type of trademark image on other things, not just a logo.

There are so many new entries, thanks! We'll comment on each one properly later. We wanted to toss in that the theme for our food offerings, should it be helpful, is 'eclectic, tasty, and artisan' foods.

Things we'll sell - olives, imported jams, pasta, olive oil, fancy vinegars, every kind of sauce under the sun, some crackers and jams that are good with cheese but we won't sell cheese.

Maybe a jar of olives might be complimentary?

We would also like to mention that we like the styles of these designs from this site - We don't want copies of these, but these show the kind of crispness and freshness that we are hoping for.

Another suggestion could be a skewer of olives/cherry tomatoes, some kind of an olive branch, or a rosemary sprig, or something with a peeled/shaved effect, like a thin citrus peel that is used for garnish, or chocolate shavings.

Please feel free to experiment with other colors. Blue, purple, cranberry... For example, we really love the creative colors used in #42

We're open to anything fresh and nontraditional!

We now ask that any art be original vector art and not clip-art. Thanks :)

We've also edited the contest details to include:
    # The letters/words of the chosen, completed logo need to have perfect spacing ('tracking') BUT you don't need to do this unless/until your design is chosen as winner
    # The completed logo needs to look perfect both small in size, as well as, say, one foot wide.
    # Any font used need to be either 100% free AND its license (needs to be provided) must also allow the font to be used for a business logo.
    # OR when commercial font(s) have been used, the logo designer needs to express which commercial fonts were used (and license must allow for font to be used for a business logo), and how much the fonts cost, and where to be purchased.

We are eliminating designs that have bow ties, chef hats, or other formal "traditional" gourmet feel. We are trying to stay away from old school gourmet, and look more like fresh new artisan style food. I shouldn't give out any names here maybe...but if you want to Google 'gourmet food', then you will find several of our competing stores that carry a lot of the foods that we will be carrying (or the same feel of foods). Thank you for all of the submissions so far!

Thank you, everybody! We will have more comments in a few hours, individually and here. But for now, we'd like to mention that we edited the description - here is what we changed:

EDIT: After viewing a great logo with a black background, we are now open to a black background - preferably with white text and something colorful to liven it up.

Edited to add: After viewing samples with serving dishes and utensils, we feel we should exclude them from the logo because it gives it a restaurant feel, which we aren't. Thanks :)
