Actually Bob, that's not always true. The Nike logo was designed by a student in a matter of hours - they paid $35 for it.
It's going to take days to get through all of these ...hat's off to you Lachlan! Please pass the coffee ;-)
Lighten up a bit Bob :)
this is turning out to be more controversial than the london olympics logo!!!!
good 'luck' everyone!
I've thinking same thing as BobardierBob and Rambler001.
Best logos in the world took more then 3 days and plenty of research. The best logos are laid out.
Rambler, I couldn't agree more. Simplicity is good, but only when executed well. ONLY. Oh well.
Hello Mark,
Thank you very much for keeping us all informed. :)
.
For those of us that are in the top 100 - would you like us to resubmit our designs using the black and orange instead of the purple and orange?
.
I thought about submitting some additional color and font options on mine but I didn't want to add to your burden. :)
.
Please let us know.
true, but simple doesn't mean just type in 99designs in arial rounded for me, that is lack of creativity and doesn't convey what 99designs does.
simple doesn't mean it cannot be cleaver or well designed, simple is also the apple from apple, the swoosh from nike, the shell from shell and so on. All simple logo's but with a little bit more. that is the 'less is more' story.
anyway, good luck with your difficult choice, let's hope the contests are getting better with the new concept. That would be most important for all of us :-)
The best logos in the world are simple!
well said bombardierbob.
I have a feeling that the guys/girls involved in the new 99designs aren't designers whatsoever.
Why pay $1000 for a plain text logo when you can buy the whole font family for a buck.
show the creativity in your logo what made sitepoint big.
Yes, we definitely do want simplicity, and we're really liking the orange and black color scheme. The 4 stars represent our shortlist.
1038 entries? 1038 entries the time i am viewing this contest after a day ago.. whew.. I want to still submit and rush to the last minute, i just don't visit this contest for a day just to think of new ideas.. but with 1038 entries, that's a lot of ideas I guess.. Good luck to whoever win this one.. such a great great number of entries I have seen here.. :)
I guess the winner is already there.
@ s.janell
Take a good look at the top 4 star designs and they are all simple text style logo with the use of a simple square or circle. Some of the best vectored scaled designs on here have ether been given a one star rating or dumped for the mere reason of they want simplicity plane and simple.
I could write a volume on what I think right now but in the end it would only serve to burn me when it comes to the judging multiple hosts on this contest alone. I am still wondering why I went through college for this.
Hi all,
Just an FYI, there is a very well known discount store here in the USA called 99 cents only (http://www.99only.com/) and the 99 is in a very similar purple color that I see many of the designers using, as well as the same font. I'm sure you don't want to evoke a "cheap" image. There are many USA citizens (such as myself!) that love using this contest for their projects, such talent.
Good luck!
Cheers,
S. Janell
