Thanks babitaverma ;)
Congrats <OEUF/>...nice job.
THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the designers who participated in my contest. It was a wonderful experience and there were so many great ideas! I especially appreciate the work of babitaverm (http://99designs.com/users/188315) and BeeOsx (http://99designs.com/users/170918). If only I could have three logos!
Hey, whoever's posting NO-SPEC logos everywhere...in the nicest possible way...sling it!!! I've never been quite so enraged, by a group of seemingly pompous design professionals who have banded together under the banner of this pseudo-guerilla organisation to allegedly protect their beloved industry.
I've been a design professional working in international advertising and design agencies in London for nearly 12 years. Now on the freelance path, trying to grow my own business, I often rely on sites such as 99Designs, not merely for potential income, but also as a base to generate ideas and cross-pollinate thinking with other creatives during 'leaner' periods when regular clients and freelance agencies aren't so busy (such as now, coming up to the end of the financial year when everyone is tightening belts and budgets are practically runnning on vapour).
You cite the fact that designers potentially receive no recompense for their efforts, but yet this is no different to a agencies pitching against one and other for clients, unless you happen to be working back in the 1980's when agencies used to charge for pitches. Designers don;t have to submit work, nor are they tied into doing so to be a member of the website.
You also cite the lack of a 'client-designer' face-to-face relationship harmful to the industry and its standards. However, having worked with several clients from this site, via email and mobile phone, I've had a very clear understanding of the requirements of the brief and the client's expectations. Conversely, the clients have also understood the rationale of my work through clear writing and communication.
All in all, and given that most of the soundbites on the NO-SPEC website come from professionals based within design groups, it strikes me that sites such this have got agencies worried, and too bloody right they should be. They've been overcharging clients for years and this is the backlash.
If businesses are voting with their feet and seeking cheaper design through the internet, perhaps you should ask whether or not the design agencies and their professionals actually have a desirable product any more. And remember, cheaper rates, doesn't have to mean 'cheaper' work.
Morning I believe,
I will be starting work on that light on dark very soon, just a few quick questions in order for it to go smoothly.
Any preference to the background color? would you like me to keep with the greens but reverse the effect or do I have a little more creative space so as to do what I think works well first off?
When we have a version that you are happy with, which other versions, would you like to add to the one sheet, with the original bugs etc so that I can put it all together for you?
Thanks
@ talentado #126 that is a blatant rip off!! loose it mate
yes - primarily online, but it would need to have a print-translation for business cards.
I'll keep it open until the end!
Keep it open I wanna try!!!
Are you using this primarily online? A design like that won't translate well to b/w and limits your usability in print.
LOOKING FOR MORE THAN JUST TEXT AND ICON ON WHITE
I love the way that the way this design incorporates the entire space (http://99designs.com/contests/2771/…169408.png) ... not just the font and icon, but the space behind - there is color and gradients, and transparencies and flourishes and shapes.
I keep hoping that someone will do something like that for me - where they use the whole space. But so far everything is just text and marks on white (or occasionally on black).
I'm not looking for a design like Wooden Acorn, per se ... just something more than what I've been getting. Anyone??
PLEASE READ ALL COMMENTS ON THIS FRONT PAGE!
I'm not into the white/black/red thing ... I'm looking more for a complex (beautiful if you will) color scheme.
I'm also not looking for a grunge look.
Thanks for the entries so far!!
I will be entering soon...
(The comments above refer so far to designs #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, & #7)
Thanks so much for your work so far. Unfortunately, all of these first designs really don't do anything for me. I'm just not feeling like they reflect me at all. I know that it's totally challenging for you to reflect me when you don't know me, but I feel like if you spent some time on my website and checking out designs that I have done you would get a better sense of what moves me.
A general comment that would apply to all the designs so far (which is #1-#6) is that they all seem a little flat. None of them actually seem very "designed." I do like my current logo, it just feels old to me and I'm ready for a change - but I do like a lot of the elements there ... it is a layered look, with a slight 3-dimensionality to it.
Another general comment is that all the designs seem very primary color oriented, when my work is almost always about subtle and complex color pallets. Color is incredibly important to me.
All the designs by Xandre seem a bit clip-arty to me. I really don't want any feeling of cartoonishness - not at all.
Of all those submitted so far it is #2 by Senjula that I like best, simply because I think it seems the most professional and has more interesting font treatment and most interesting color pallet. I can see where the artist was going with the symbol, but I don't really like the result. However, I don't want to move in this direction really at all, so even though it is my favorite of the group thus far, it's not what I want anyone else to use as a jumping off point.
