After much thought and consideration, I have selected a winner for the Gamerflicks logo and it's Loya. Their simple but effective design of a controller pad and the film strip, with a splash of color, matches what we want the Gamerflicks website to communicate to visitors. But this was a *very difficult* decision and in the end it came down to two final entries: Loya and Echelon. In fact, I considered awarding two first place prizes...it was that close, and the quality of Echelon's entry is that compelling and just as good as Loya. In the end one of the decisions made in selecting Loya's logo was the use of the four colors in the directional pad, and a way that it can be incorporated into the layout of the website. That pushed the decision into Loya's favor, but I have to stress how close it was...if I had to express the decision in percentages, it would literally be 51% vs 49%.Nevertheless, since I was amazed by the quality and originality of Echelon's design I am also going to award a runner-up cash prize to Echelon of $150, half of the amount of the first place prize! Congratulations to Echelon and Loya both!

I also would like to say that, while Loya and Echelon's entries were the two final candidates, there were also six outstanding entries that were considered and are just as professional, original and dynamic as the winner. DeanR, Bluelou, Blaze, Demonhale, Dzynd4U, TheLogoMachine, gtheb and Merman also had fun, dymanic designs and any one of these could have easily served as the logo for Gamerflicks.

I would like to thank each of the contestants for taking the time for entering the contest and helping to create the Gamerflicks logo. As a contest holder I had a blast seeing new entries and watching the creativity unfold, and I want to say right now that I already have plans for a second contest...and a third...and I will be launching these when the time is right. I would like to invite everyone that participated in this contest to consider again submitting when these future design contests are held.

Now that the contest is over I will be choosing a winner shortly. I need a couple of days to make a final decision. There are about half-a-dozen entries that I like quite a bit and two that I really, really like, which is going to make the final decision that much harder. I can say that I was very pleased with the quality of the candidates and that many of you worked hard to think creatively about the logo design and just based on the positive experience of this contest alone I am already planning on another contest soon. For now I would like to announce the winner of the Gamerflicks contest on or before March 1 (at the latest) so keep your eyes open!

I am seeing some outstanding designs and the designers are listening to the feedback provided and really thinking about it in their next design. I am thinking also about the color choice for the logo as it will have some weight on the color and design of the website's template.
