Disney has been known to take legal action against companies who use look-alikes of their characters. They are very protective, specially with Mickey. Mary Poppins is a flying nanny carrying an umbrella and a suitcase, which is exactly what some logos are showing. You might get away with it, let's say if it was an executive woman flying, carrying a suitcase in an ad for a bank for example. You don't want the buyer to have legal problems with Disney in the future.
I have 7 years of experience working as a designer for a major cable network, and I encountered these situations often. Actually, big companies like Disney, Warner Bros, and Marvel among others, have people on staff who's only job is to scan for people using their characters for profit without authorization, so believe me when I tell you, they'll find out sooner or later.

We are not interested in logos that have the N & C in the design. We are looking for creativity of a symbolic nature that communicates an element of the business.

GENERAL COMMENTS TO DESIGNS
1. Being able to place the logo to the left of the logo text is important. If you provide a design with a logo on top of the text, please also provide a version to the left of the text.
2. I am surprised that a majority of colour schemes have been very pastel. Please experiment with strong colour at least in the logo?
3. Symbolized logo designs are what we are looking for. NOT...Pictures or clipart, the use of N or C. Creative designs that communicate the objectives of the business.
4. The text component should ideally be side by side. If you want to present a stacked text version please also provide a side by side version.

In general Disney is very protective of their creations. The logo that was created to look like Mary Poppins does look very much like the Disney version. The general law on copyright is that if someone can look at an image and recognize it as copied from another artist's (or in this case company's) concept it is considered to be copyright infringement.
For those of us participating here having an idea that is similar to another contestants generally won't result in pressed charges. But having an idea that directly brings to mind a Disney character, I don't know man, I wouldn't want to mess with Disney.
