The site provides constantly updated links to stories about Arsenal soccer club from a host of internet sources, on one fast loading page. Arsenal fans are known as "gooners" hence goonernews.com. The colour scheme for the site is pretty much restricted to the Arsenal team colours (red/gold) and possibly green.

The team is one of the most famous clubs in the world with great tradition and is followed globally by a loyal fan base. The site is well established (3 years old) and we are relaunching the site with the new design and need a new header banner and logo. Work with the dimensions of header2.gif but leave about 30% of the space free on the right hand side available to use, since we may decide to use that space for advertising. You can increase the height of header2.gif a little if you wish.

We have used gradients in the current header2.gif but you can be as creative as you like here. There are other gradients on the site obviously, but they could be changed to match whatever you come up with if we like it a great deal. The background of the header image does not need to be red.

We encourage you to get creative as we are totally open-minded to ideas. Regarding photography, we would rather avoid expensive photo licensing fees if we can, but if you have an economical source where the licensing would be reasonable (under say $350) we would consider it if the idea is strong. Derivative photography such as highly faded and cropped / distorted crowd shots would probably be ok. The current arsenal team shield (www.arsenal.com) is a no go.

From the mockup you will see that there are text links and navigation links underneath the header. By all means incorporate these into your design as this may sway us to your idea. In this case you would use the whole height of those sections - as we said, the height is not critical.

The current strapline text from the original site of 'Every story.. 24 hours... One fast loading page' can be included.

Obviously we are moving from a very staid design to a more contemporary feel so by all means be contemporary. Thanks!
