Futrther ideas for a logo:
What would be interesting in terms of logo - is something that conveys map layers on top of each other i.e. overlayed.
I you need something inbetween the 2 you have submitted in terms of subtlety.
As an aside I dont think globe type logos things work for me, generally.

Im well impressed so far - I think overall I want the "gis" part of the name to be subtley highlighted in some way. Cheers.
