Cartridge King is a new printer cartridge and toner manufacturing facility, manufacturing cartridges and toners for virtually every main stream printer in use today. Launch date is fast approaching.
The finished product comes at a lower price and a guarantee of service to match if not surpass the productivity of any original manufacturer. Thus it is destined to be the King of the industry.
It is the first local manufacturing plant of this kind in Ethiopia, and is expected to be the biggest brand in the Horn of Africa. Your logo will be show cased with an outstanding advertising budget, and soon to be a household symbol - this I can guarantee. Unfortunately, i cannot guarantee the prize money just yet as i may have to extend and increase the prize money if I have not chosen one after the first week, and guarantee at that point after seeing some designs and having achieved some confidence in what I may have to settle for.
I do have a couple ideas which i have uploaded reference photos for, but i am not fixed upon them, and open to any ideas which have inspired you.
Please keep in mind that this is a logo for printer ink, and so use of colour and conveyance of laser precision in /through the logo are equally as important as the primary concept of being the KING.

Cartridge King
The target audience is everyone who knows what a printer is and that it needs a refill on occasion. However, more specifically, Cartridge King will be focusing on two main groups :-
1. Govt institutions and large corporations
2. Individuals shopping at retail outlets
Cartridge King will be the first local manufacturing facility, and will compete with the likes of original manufacturers such as HP, EPSON, CANON, etc. It must be a clean cut and professional looking logo, not too cartoony.
Key selling points :-
King :- Through the price, print quality, print quantity and availability, the KING element should be the foremost portrayed concept as stands well above its competitors in these fields.
Precision :- Laser printers were a revolutionary concept as it carries with it the idea of laser precision.
Colour:- Although the majority of sales will be for administrative black and white printing, the logo must be bursting with colour. It needn’t be every colour available but very strong and vibrant colours.
The logo will be used on packaging materials, promotional materials, and company stationary. As a result, it will need to be vectorized and any other graphic terms used to describe its ability for shape changing without losing its integrity.
We are looking for an eye catching logo.
An intelligent / clever logo.
Professional looking.
Bursting with colour.
Very precise.
Emphasis on KING (Not necessarily text, perhaps a well placed crown above/near CARTRIDGE)
Some ideas I had :
1. a drop of ink falling into a cartridge with a colourful crown splash (as per reference pics)
2. colour bars coming together to form a controlled splash of ink, perhaps a crown shape (and possibly its inverse reflection so as to not defy the laws of physics)
3. colour bars coming down or going up to form a crown shape (see reference pictures)
4. perhaps a background printer, printing a page of full colour, perhaps a crown on the page.
5. whatever you think is an awesome idea.
It has to be memorable, something that will pop into ones head whenever they click the print button.
Keep in mind that this logo will be on administrative print materials, advertising materials, and on corporate gifts.
