CloseDesign brief
"A Breadboard is a reusable solder-less device used to build temporary electronic circuits, to experiment with circuit designs, and to test ideas."
Breadboard is a non-profit program at the University City Science Center in Philadelphia that facilitates public access to a new generation of tools and resources in an effort to empower individuals and convene communities around creative applications of technology.
Through a unique partnership with NextFab Studio, Breadboard programming offers artists, innovators and the diverse public at-large access to collaborative workspace, arts-based educational workshops and training opportunities on the tools and technologies of today that are being used to create tomorrow.
Breadboard engages groups and communities at all levels of interest and experience. Breadboard programming combines 3-D printing technology, CAD-operated rapid prototyping equipment such as laser cutters and milling machines within a collaborative workshop environment where artists, DIY enthusiasts, hackers, community groups and students can share a computer station or a circuit board with entrepreneurs, engineers, and industrial designers.

The ideal logo is simple in design that at first might be ambiguous but quickly becomes synonymous with BreadBoard’s unique programming (public access to rapid prototyping tools & technology/creative applications for rapid prototyping tools & technology).
The logo should imply the meaning of a "Breadboard" to someone with little technical knowledge while still appealing to tech savvy audiences.
We'd like it to be simple and iconic, in the sense that for the broadest possible range of viewers it immediately and memorably conjures up:
• Cutting edge technology
• Do-it-yourself spirit and culture
• Friendly, diverse collaborative environment
• Does NOT relate to baking or bakeries
The winning logo will be used in the following:
• All print/web materials
• Promotional items like: messenger bags/hats/t-shirts
The winner should provide the logo in one of the following formats:
Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
Adobe Photoshop (.psd)
Suggestions for fonts (only - no licenses) to be paired with the logo will be appreciated.
Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo - submissions should be entirely new creations of the designer.
The winner will be selected by the Breadboard team.
