Congratulations to ink and freistil! We loved elements of both designs so we decided to declare 2 winners. The contest holder guidelines state that we can award more than one winner (each receiving $250), however, we haven't figured out how to designate both as winners. (We have a message into customer support) So public apologies to ink! Hopefully we will receive instructions soon regarding how to show ink as the winner as well.
Thanks again to all the designers for the superb quality of these designs! We're checking with 99designs to see if we can showcase all 400+ submissions together as a work of art. We will be contacting everyone directly if 99designs has no objections - but if you have objections or concerns right from the outset, please let us know. (we will not use it for commercial purposes)

No. Contest has not been abandoned. Just the immense volume of entries and high quality of designs causing us to deliberate carefully. Will declare very soon!

I have to say I like Ink's design but my only reservations on it is the 2 will read as a 9 the way it is now and that could through clients off some. The Top 5 are good but in the end art and functionality sometime truly clash. ~Bob
We've taken 3 passes through our top designs and we're now down to our top 5. In no particular order, the top 5 designers are:

To make it easier to evaluate we've removed all the other 5-star designs from consideration. You may see some other logos with 4 stars or below that we haven't removed yet. This simply means we've had no time to remove all of them - there are just too many!
The next step will be much harder for us. We'll be thinking how each of these would look in print, on the web and on our store front. Stay tuned for the next step. Probably by tomorrow.

Very cool comment Monkeymase! I had a great time with this one as well. I agree, I'd like to thank the CH for the constant feedback as well. Wow what a huge response. Great work everyone.
Agreeing with Bob & Ephi, this has been the most enjoyable contest I've personally entered. Rarely does the contest holder take the time to give detailed feedback and for this contest they could have easily gotten overwhelmed with the number of submissions to provide feedback for. But they made it through always offering their honest opinion but with a touch of humor and bit of encouragement through it. I know I sub-mitted A LOT of entries. I have two full time "real" jobs, but both keep me chained to the computer day and night and while this contest has been going on my work for both jobs suffered. I kept "sneaking away" to either check sitepoint, or to my logo software to create new submissions. An Artist and Designer at heart it has always been my dream to have an art gallery of my own, so with that in mind I just kept pumping them out hoping eventually I'd find the niche they (CH) were looking for. I didn't, I know none of my entries made 5 star, but I've had damn fine time while it was going on. Best of luck to the contest holder and congratulations to the winner, whomever that may end up being. I think everyone enjoyed this one without a doubt. To the CH, I will e-mail you privately to coordinate sending you one of the pieces I'm currently working on. I'd feel honored to know it's hanging in your space. monkey (mary) mase
We revisited some of your earlier designs and rated the last minute entries, so we now have 29 5-star designs. While we still have lots of work to do to whittle this number down, I am feeling withdrawl symptoms from the contest having ended - no more reviews to catch up on! So, now we're in the process of ranking the last 29 on a scale to see how the designs fit our criteria. We've put all the thumbnails up on a single page so we can see them together. They all look great. It's ART!
