congratz Q to your first winning!
Andrew, I will send you a private message explaining my thought process behind what I said. However, since I publicly called you out on it, I will apologize publicly. I feel though, that you need to look at what the client wants... and they want a retro feel to their logo. Your comment also quite possibly offended every designer who has submitted a design in keeping with the client's wishes. I have never met a designer that strong-arms the clint into doing what they (the designer) want. It is through rejection and critique (no matter how brief) that we learn how to succeed.
Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Matt
I withdrew my entries but I do want to comment on something.
Don't worry ah.gdco. You had good intension's, I think you just handled it a little too harshly. As a designer, you owe it to the client to tell them what could and couldn't work. They pay you for your experience in the field. I do agree that maybe having an old fashioned logo is not the best way to go if you want a more diverse demographic. I also think the client has a good point that they want something that looks like they've been around for a while. So it's the challenge of making those two different ideas work. Good luck everyone.

Dear Flyboy522
I appreciate your concern, but it's not an issue of having thick skin; I have no problem yielding to a critique that involves a thoughtful analysis and a valid point or two. I put the utmost care, thought and effort into my work. All I ask is that a similar amount of care, thought and attention be reciprocated by the client when they critique my work. I don't think I'm at all out of line in expecting that sort of courtesy. "Too simple" just doesn't cut it for me, especially not when A.) I submitted multiple entries of varying complexity B.) included a thorough explanation of my design process as it relates to this job and C.) the CH has openly critiqued other works in much more depth than he did mine.
You know, Flyboy522, I probably wouldn't have faulted you for making a similarly snippy remark in my situation, but thank you for caring enough to publicly call me out on it. If you'd ever like to come back in from recess and act like a professional, just let me know. Maybe we can critique some work together or something.
Yours
Andrew Harrington
Anyone who doesn't have their logo in caps, please if you can try it in CAPS! Thanks!!!
Q, I believe the winged design is the current Chrysler logo... The star was the logo prior to that.
Good luck! And check out "ah.gdco's" response to his feedback! Wow! Someone needs to develop some thicker skin!
One more question. There's 2 Chrysler logos out there: the winged one and the star. First looks more classic but the second one fits better with the designs. Which one would you preffer us to use?
ok, I know no one will believe it, INCLUDING MYSELF! so I did another drawing based on this photo: http://www.easy4host.com/original-car-pic2.jpg
Are you going to find me another exact drawing on this car? I will be really surprise if you can find another one.
peace
Sorry, sir, but you are not going to convince anyone you used that reference photo to produce a drawing that similar to the exhibit posted above. It defies logic. It's plain as day obvious that you cheated and you got caught. You're not fooling anyone by telling us otherwise. You're insulting our intelligence and our profession. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt by overlaying the logos and using transparency to compare them. Sorry, but they are exactly the same, right down to the placement of the steering wheel. I don't want to speak for other people, but either way, I think you need to withdraw your entries to this contest. Ignorance is no defense in the world of copyright law.

berekk, first of all, I'm very surprise about that logo you showed me, it looked 90% the same!!! If I were you I will think the same way! However, thats not the truth, how stupid is that to use someone elses design.
This is the original pic I used for my drawing: http://www.easy4host.com/original-car-pic.jpg
I have never see that design before, and my drawing is 100% from MYSELF based on that image. This is a public site and everyone gets to see it, I will never use other people's design and make it as mine. That's the #1 thing to keep in mind for all designers.
I've been in the design business for over 5 years, and this is the first time something like this happened, can't say much about how alike the two designs are, but what I have to say is, all my designs are my own work, not from someone else's or ripping someone else's idea.
thanks pointing out tho, I will definitly contact who ever designed that, and tell him this story. I'm sure he will be surprised too.
peace
tsk tsk
Bad form my friend.
Come on people, do your own thing, you are designers, or not?
Yeah you'd have time to rip another design...

3 days remaining, any feedbacks? so I can have time to make another concept based on your feedback. Thanks!
