Cibgrats defectDSL:)
Congrats defectDS - good job!!!
Thank you all for your entries -
Now that the contest is over I have a clearer picture of what I had in mind - a simple, distinctive logo.
I believe defectDS' design is both.
Once again, thank you all contest entrants - I feel some of you really improved your entries over the course of the contest - best of luck with designing and in the future!
Genie.
@jrowa,
You know the quality of design you produce - it is good ;)
A CH's taste/dislikes/likes sometimes just aren't with the standard, or on the same level with the designer. It all boils down that the winner brings to the table the style that the CH's looking for - whatever it may be. Certainly this does not make the CH an authority on what is or isn't professional. Sometimes in the end we designers have brought forth great designs to find that the CH was wanting a very basic and easy design - rather they themselves realised it or not; the winning designer is able to figure that out, and delivers - which is definately a talent on its on, and other times just luck.
So from one designer to another, I say to you: "Keep up the good work!"
Cheers Lyn

And maybe YOU! : )
Winner announced this time tomorrow.

Respect is key here from both the contest holders and the contestants. Rude comments from either will not be tolerated. Thank you.
I'm deeply sorry jrowa, let me rephrase that:
"I'm sorry that's not what I'm looking for."
Genie.
The comments you have left on my entry are rude, childish and un called for.
Not being big headed or anything, but the quality of logo ive entered is fairly high. I spent a good 45 minutes on the draft working on the phone image. Compared to alot of the others it is in the top half at least.
A simple, 'no thats not what we are looking' would have been sufficent,
And even better, feedback on how it could be improved?
Ive entered hundreds upon hundreds of design contests on this and other sites, and never found anyone so rude and un appreciative of the work they are being presented.
Its people like you who put off graphic designers from entering these contests.
As ive said, being polite to others costs nothing. And you werent 'frank', you were rude.
If something is horrible, you could just say " Not what we're looking for, thanks for your effort " or something like that rather than asking 'em to do tutorials..
I look and comment on every logo posted in this contest.
Clearly some of the logos are on a level that is significantly lower than the others. We can all joke around and say "Oh that's great! But try harder" - but when it comes down to it at the end of the day some designers just aren't going to reach the level of the others over the course of this contest. Leading them on to create further entries that will not help anyone.
Manners are very important, and so does being frank.
If something is horrible you should say.
Don't mislead yourself because you think you should be 'nice'.
All that said, there are some amazing entries coming into this competition, Sitepoint always impresses me with the diversity of its entries.
Genie.
I agree, Genie try to be a bit more conservative in your feedback. You're supposed to leave feedback only on the logo and not the designer who made it.
jrowa, well said,
Genie, as some designs may not hold up to your high standards you do not need to insult
us who are trying to create a brand image for you. I've been doing this for over a decade and I have many clients who are happy with the standard of work I present to them, I certainly don't need tutorial books to tell me how to create a logo.
I sure do hope you find a design that will fit your criteria, but please respect those same people who are trying to make that happen,
Oh and defectDS (wish I was in CA right now :) ) I've let that thing from yesterday go, I agree, the check mark is not or has never been mine to begin with, keep up the good work y'all,

Can i ask a question to the contest holder,
Why are you so rude and disrespectful of some of the designs people are putting forward to you?
Some of the entries i will admit are not up to scratch, but you make it a point to try and disrespect the entrant by saying something like 'you need to do some tutorials' or joking that they have used paint?
Also the entry ive made for you, i would say is a fairly high quality logo, and other designers on here will agree, yet you have for some reason tried to joke about me 'playing around with photoshop'. And left no feedback what so ever on the logo itself?
I seriously hope you dont conduct your business manner in this way with your Live Vote business venture, as you will find a few probems in the future.
Manners cost nothing.
Jay.
Romasuave, when the contest holder recommends that a check mark V be in the logo, we don't really have a choice. It's not about who used the V first, but how everyone uses it. The V was inevitable.
Clashmore,
I do appreciate every designer here and I think all are super talented, it just
seems to me another direction could be taken with this, especially when I see a couple of designs that
are almost exactly like mine, that's all. Keep up the good work!
