How come my entries always say "Remove"? Did I do something bad?

It says that the Contest Holder has withdrawn from the contest so I was just being factitious. Another one bites the dust.

Thank you so much. By the way, what design are you using for your jewelry line? I suppose they should relate to one another, right?

In my humble opinion, I would say that even though the word kitsch means tacky, it can still mean elegant, in the way that "funky" can mean elegant. Sometimes elegant just means that you are standing up straight and have a certain look in your eye. It's like poetic license and it has to do with turning things around and "doing it anyway". Angelina Jolie is sort of kitschy chic. She's both. She gets away with anything she tries.

FWIW... By definition, kitsch basically means low-brow and common. Chic, by definition, means style and elegance. The two words combined would mean "common elegance." No matter how you dress the logo and how designer (meaning upper middle class) you make the logo appear, the name will always contradict the market you're targeting.

bkla, if you're helping develop the brand and name, it doesn't sound like you're consistent with intent. Kitsch is hardly upper or even middle class. The standard use of kitsch is playfully "tacky"... Literally.

It's impossible to change its meaning in the eye's of the public unless you have some serious cash to market a new meaning/concept for the brand. Judging by the $100 prize, that's not the case. So, while you may have some pre-defined notion of what is kitsch, the rest of the world thinks of 70s cross stitch, tacky 50s items, avocado greens and pumpkin oranges, tiki girls, etc.

Kitsch and chic combined wouldn't convey "catty." It would convey funky, fun, and stylish (hardly elegant). Chic is a word most would delegate to your target demographic but kitsch is not.

    Just some food for thought.
