    Yes,Right.
Coded design means the site is ready to launch on server with its alloted domain name. You will have to take domain name also for the site.
Un-coded design means just the graphics + banners(animated or static)+ sound elements (if there)combination that all have to be "coded and launched on the server".Then only it can be veiwed and worked on the net.

    Thanks.
    Babita.

Congrats Gfx55. A coded template means the site is ready to be published to the internet and will be fully functionable. Uncoded means you need to code all the html links and make the site work. It basically is just the design of the website. I am sure someone else here can add more to my somewhat lame explanation :) Good luck with your business venture :)

    Dear All

Decision made Gfx55 - i felt teh simple script was jsut perfect - the one that was created intot eh business card. As mentioned earlier in the forums - i did feel that irrespective of cpolour etc.......if a logo can stand out then it is really saying something!

Many thanks to everyone and i really enjoed this experience - i look forward to the web site contest now - can someone pls tell me the main difference between coded and un-coded.

    Thx

    Chris

    Dear All

Apologies for lack of feedback - been away - i think the forum was superb! it's good to get these things out in the open - certainly didn't frighten me off. I will now post a web design after I've chosen the winner - I think sitepoint is an amazing concept and long may it last and expand.

I've short listed 5 entry candidates and am now waiting for some feed back from some peers and will have a winner by the weekend i hope.

and that does NOT make it your own art....that is blatant plagerism. Get some creativity people...If you are a designer I am sure you shouldnt have to use live trace to draw a lime!!!

Live trace is crap. You can try crop the photo so there is no white around the sides then do live trace with 100s of colors but it will still be crap. You are better off tracing that photo by hand and creating your own vector from it. Live trace makes things look like clip art in my opinion from trying it in past.

The photo will still lose quality. Yes Illustrator does allow that, but not without loss of quality and look of the actual image.

Just on the discussion of resizing photos... I may be wrong, but doesn't Illustrator allow us to use Live Trace to convert raster graphics, like photos, into vector art? :)

spot on zync! Those should be dealt privately as stated in the sitepoint guidelines for designers.

Why doesn't anyone use the PM anymore? This attitude of pulling up peoples designs in public and fighting is only going to drive contest holders away. I'm seeing a lot of this lately on Sitepoint. It's not good for all of us. Just my thoughts
