tropicandrew; For your information bob actually IM'd me with the information. If you don't understand the Miss America analogy, you never will....
2nd of all Why waste your time with a post that is dead? If it is so sickening ignore it. You must not have much work to do. I wonder why......
LOL! Just leave alone.
Good for you.. tropicandrew. you almost had the last word. Why waste your time with a post that is dead? You must not have much work to do. I wonder why......
LOL!
I fail to see where it was Bob who pointed out the rules and what Miss America has to do with these competitions here, but that's not the point anymore. The point is that someone got you to declare a winner. Yay for accomplishment.
I don't know, bub or pieceofcake, about why the CH's attitude is the way it is, but I'm sure he knows by now that this thread has drawn the attention of people who will make sure he complies with the rules the next time he wants to hold a contest...and as for the major, major brown-nosing amongst a solid argument that this contest holder's attitude regarding the artists/entrants/process here on Sitepoint needed information/adjustment, I find it rather sickening.
sorry i wasted my time, i will never ever enter a contest held by illwillj. no response to this please!
I'd love to know which of my comments you found provocative. Other than that, we'll agree to disagree. Your response was qiote humerous.
My sentiments exactly tropicandrew....Don't think I'll be getting any glitches anytime soon either..... I'll continue to research these contest holders and give fair warnings to all entrants who continue to submit to these contest that fail to adhere to the rules-thats why this one is labeled abandoned.......How is that fair?.......4x a day and yet due to inactivity canceled...hummm ....Some designers who still praise this contest must really feel each and every potential client is worth the jelly....So in fairness yes congrats to the winner and I promise I'm not gonna miss any of your many new companies to come-
Merry Christmas...
By me illwilj, this was quite a fair contest run by you...i cannot see nothing to comply...a better feedback maybe...but this is for every CH each time a contest is in the run...so...
overall a good contest. I'll enter your future contests for sure. :)
It's hilarious to me that you "bub" find what I say to be offensive, but you don't find what others say that provoked me to be offensive. Including you!
The goal here was to find someone to create a logo for my company, and that is what I did and we are pleased!
Tropicanadrew as you said "And yet you chose to waste the time of 63 entrants (well, "entrants" as in entries, as there were multiple entries coming from some designers) that came after the one that you ultimately chose." correct me if I am wrong but isn't that what a contest is? Finding, and choosing a winner! I can see if I did not choose a winner. Then that would be wasting peoples time. I did choose a winner and I am working with that individual. So, question in choosing a winner for Miss America 1 out of 50 women wins.. Is that a waste of everyones time? Maybe they should choose all 50 next time. I will be sure to let the trumpster know.
Ok, so by the RULES of the sitepoint contest site I was not in compliance. I understand why I was not in compliance. Thanks to BombardierBob for bringing that to my attention.
Now, bub, Tropicanadrew I will not waste my time writing dear abbey letters to you two. Find another contest to share your 2cents as this contest is over and has been "abandoned" days ago don't waste your time...
there was anything wrong with my post (i wasn't looking for troubles), i just asked a question!! i don't know why it has been deleted!!!???
"I was not going to waste my time. Nonetheless, I chose the one that fit the direction of the company."
And yet you chose to waste the time of 63 entrants (well, "entrants" as in entries, as there were multiple entries coming from some designers) that came after the one that you ultimately chose.
Next time (if there is one), you need to show a little respect for the work that people are doing for you, and if you find something that you love before the contest's close, then close the contest early and name your winner early. That happened with a client of mine (French DJs who held a great, fun contest); but they also gave really workable feedback to all of those who came before/during my entry and revisions. There were daaaaaays left on the contest, but they decided not to waste everyone's time and declare the winner.
Anyway. Feel free to delete -my- entries if I ever have a mild stroke and forget who's holding the contest, but it'll truly be your loss.

"Guidelines for Contest Holders
Need a logo, template or stationary designed? Post your contest here and let others compete for the prize. In order to post a contest in the Design Contests category, you must abide by the following rules."
(Note the "must" in there.) The VERY FIRST rule is
"1. You must give feedback to new entries on a regular basis, to give entrants the chance to improve their entry."
And the 8th rule is
"8. If the contest holder does not post for an entire week, and there are entries which do not have any feedback, the contest will be considered abandoned. The contest will be automatically suspended. In order to re-open the contest, the contest holder will have to give feedback to all the entries that require it."
Despite pieceofcake's internet yelling, your threat to delete his submissions (based on the rest of your offensive comment)? Not going unnoticed.

illwillj, your response was quite offensive. As we should read the contest brief prior to submitting, so should you read the riles of the site before posting a contest. Myself I don't worry much abotu feedback assuming that none means we're off the mark. But, the rules of the site are clear and when poeple choose not to comply, I do not begrudge them the right to complain about it. The suspension was just.
Good luck with your logo. I'm sure now that you have a designer you;re comfortable with, the lines of communication will be more definable.
hi
i really dont know why refused to give feedback on every logo, man we just want a little respect cause we r working here!, copy-past (not what am looking for) is quite enough.
in addition this #1 rule on this marketpalce !!
-regards
pieceofcake,
For your information, I actually chose a winner which was "atotalstranger" and I will be doing work with this individual for upcoming projects.
So, in actuality your "Gut instinct" was wrong. Please don't blame "The Contest" I held as the reasoning you didn't submit your logo. Instead, lets blame it on your confidence in putting together a logo that met the requirements.
Again, this contest was suspended due to the fact I REFUSED to give feedback on every logo. Some logo's were great, some logo's were not even close to what I described, and some logo's were merely mock ups of other logo's. I was not going to waste my time. Nonetheless, I chose the one that fit the direction of the company.
Unfortunately, the designers that are serious have to suffer and I sincerely apologize to you. "You know who you are!"
So abandonment..... No not at all... pieceofcake, What ever you are... it, she, boy....... Read the posts before you open your keyboard.
And by the way, if I ever do hold another contest I promise you that I will DELETE your submissions so fast you would think you had a computer glitch!
Merry Christmas too you as well!
HEY GUYS, GREAT JOB WITH THE DESIGNS-
SORRY I WOULD'VE SUBMITTED BUT I'VE LEARNED TO REASEARCH AND GO WITH GUT INSTINTS ON THESE SO CALLED CONTEST HOLDERS-WHOM ABANDON US ALL.
SORRY I KNOW THE FEELING AND HOPE THIS CONTEST HOLDER NEVER HOLDS ANOTHER OR AT LEAST NONE OF YOU EVER SUBMIT ANY MORE WORK FOR HIM, HER OR IT..
HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY!!
