Raster is scalable in reduction not increased. That is why a large file at 300dpi is used so it can be reduced as needed.

Rasterized is not scalable. It is by definition a collection of pixels. A raster image will increase in weight as it increases in resolution. It will make flash very slow. Vector is composed of a series of math equations. Essentially a line of code. A vector image scaled to 3 inches or 30 feet will take up the same amount of space on a hard drive or bandwidth. A 3 inch raster image scaled to 30 feet will crash most systems.

Scalable means same resolution at all sizes.

I'm glad you like my design, please let me know if there is anything you would like to see changed. I added a new version with some more detail to it.

Raster is scalable as long as it is created at a very high res...and done porperly

Hey Pixel good question, i thought i would post my entry #3 with chrome wrench, cog or lock washer, and hex nut with a filter effect, so that the Contest holder can see the difference. The other ones are vector files.

I take it this logo does not have to scale too much? Some of the entries look raster to me. They look good, but raster is not scalable.

Do we have to use your original logo? Or can we create something completley different?
