    Is the suspension permanent?

The reason why this contest was suspended is that amgraham entered an entry, then subsequently removed it, not allowing us to give him/her feedback. We've contacted this person and sitepoint support. Most terrible timing since our contest was about to end (with 3 hours left).

We would like to see an icon integrated with the text. A lot of people have used the palm tree and moon idea and that is good because that's something most South Carolinians really identify with. However, we need to have our own unique version of the state flag symbol, it cannot just be a clipart pasted on next to some nice fonts.
    Thanks for the question.

Oh ok thanks, also do you prefer the logo to be just a text type logo, or would you like to see an icon that goes along with the text, or integrated in a creative way?

    Question for contest holder-

I don't know if this has already been explained or not, but what I'd like to know is why is it that on your preview page for the logo does it say that the winner will be given $500, but on here you are only offering $300? Could you please explain?

They are two separate contests and we will assign a winner from both.

I just believe that if you want feedback, ask it in a constructive manner.
As the DESIGNER RULES: Negative comments or criticism of the contest holder, the way in which the contest is conducted, or any other entrants, are strictly not allowed. If you require clarification about a detail of a contest or feedback on your design, you should ask it in a constructive manner.

Telling the contest holder that he is wrong in his choosing does not follow guidelines... However, that is mostly iheartpixels

I think some of us just needed clarification on the area or level of upscale and elegance that the customer was seeking. Yes, the customer is always right, and we are here to try to find and create an idea/concept that the customer has envisioned and without detailed directional feedback that can be difficult to do sometimes.
No complaints here, just confused at first.

I think people should quit whining if a logo is elegant or upscale. Everybody has a different opinion on what is elegant and upscale and we should leave it at that.

The Contest Holder is the final word on everything, it will be their logo... So, people, stop whining that your logos were eliminated, you might think that your logo is awesome, but that is because you made it, step back and actually look at it.

My entries were eliminated, but that is just fine. I can understand where the Contest Holder is coming from, especially cause my feedback was not very cryptic. Whining will not help you win a contest... If you can't deal with it, then you really should not be doing contests; or any such work if you cant accept the fact that: "The customer is always right."

that's true, logos dont rely solely on the font, but look at all of the big corporations - most of the logos are simply text and nothing else.

I wasn't even talking about the font choice, the logos that are being considered for the final are not elegant or upscale in any way, shape, or form.

joel.fiasco, your interpretation of the "elegance" we are looking for is spot on. Thanks for clarifying this for potential new entrants.

I agree with the contest holder on this one. A typeface doesn't make a logo, it's the whole package. Elegance isn't measured in how many swashes a font has. I think (at least in my interpretation) that the "elegance" SCIway is looking for is a timeless look, moreso than something that can be printed on a doily.

A logo does not rely entirely on the font. Ideally, a strong logo is a combination of a suitable font with a literal or figurative symbol of some sort. It has to be more than simply text.
