is it me or did the deadline for this just get extended? I thought it closed tomorrow...
guaranteed prizemoney! kudos to the folks at destiny.com for their gutsy, unorthodox decision to crowdsource their corporate identity.
i think plagiarism is an unavoidable side effect of this type of crowdsourcing. of course it's unethical but it does have advantages for the CH--a plagiarized but improved design is still an improved design.
a blind contest would negate the "wisdom of crowds" effect, which is partly what this whole thing is about. instead of a collective evolution towards a handful of superior concepts, you have thousands of entries going in separate directions. which the CH may actually prefer, but then that's the trade-off.
another issue i have with blind contests is that they make it easier for unscrupulous CHs to get away with rigged contests.
is 2000 designs possible?? servers might crash..lol
I just added an extra note to stimulate creativity. This is all we can do for now, the only other option would be to remove all the star ratings we have put, but that would hinder our selection process :)

great job Mark! Maybe we should have this in all contests with prizes that are unusually huge. Like above $1,000 or something. This is a great move by the CH and Administrators alike.

I have an Idea for one. But I'm not as good as a lot of the designers here yet. I don't think it's up there, but I could be wrong :/
@Nevermindjoker - you misunderstand me - maybe i was not clear enough. What i mean is they will get repeated different designs that are not to their taste, and hence the CH will have more work to get the design they want. With an open contest, it is better for the CH IMO to get the best design they want by seeing an evolution of their tastes come to life through different designers.
I think this contest is a little bit of exception, due to the fact it is 5K for the win.
@winger - Again i think your missing the point - Websites and logos are always evolving. Some people copy- YES i agree, but these people are easily spotted because they have little skills, others take inspiration, which is IMO not a problem, as long as it is evolved into something different, but again it will follow the same evolution.
Im far from perfect, but i have my own ideas, and i look at other ideas and appreciate the work involved by others to create great designs as it is not easy. On these boards are some fantastic designers, and i hope one day i can match their skills.

It would be nice if the CH would send out PMs to the designers that have caught his eye. At the moment we are all left at a guessing game.
