A CH would rather see only one idea per designer? Say what? I feel bad if you have only one idea in your head at a time, most of us do not. <SNIP> You made this very "un-civil" by calling out specific artists on what your opinion of an ideal contest would be. Oh, and the whole idea of competition is to "catch the eye of the CH" as
    you wrote.
That is not exactly what I meant. If you have numerous ideas, then submit to your heart's content, but changing the font or the color on a design is not exactly what I would call a new idea.

It is not my opinion, that is how it worked several years ago and calling out specific designers is our job because 99designs doesn't even try to control the ones that abuse the process.

Sure catching the eye of the CH is the idea but thinking through an idea to come up with one distinctive design that fits what the CH wants is better than trying to throw shit on the wall to see what sticks.

You do whatever floats your boat and I'll do the same.

Im beginning to think you are joking with me.

A CH would rather see only one idea per designer? Say what? I feel bad if you have only one idea in your head at a time, most of us do not. If that has worked for you in the past then keep it to yourself. You made this very "un-civil" by calling out specific artists on what your opinion of an ideal contest would be. Oh, and the whole idea of competition is to "catch the eye of the CH" as you wrote. You act like there are 600 entries with pages upon pages of duplicates. This one http://99designs.com/contests/29141 would have made your head explode then.

And i wouldnt go bashing on other peoples skills or experience, #7 thin lined black type on a black background? i would think a seasoned designer who has been around here for so long would know better.
that only makes you look stupid and clueless
LOL, how long you been doing this, anyway?

There was a time when you didn't have wannabees using a pirated copy of Photoshop or PaintShop Pro posting stupid looking logo ideas on here trying to win some easy bucks. Many of the most talented designers have left because of the rise in the *shotgunning* like you and mikael.abroz did as well as the proliferation of the idiots that think they are logo designers.

It used to be a much more civil atmosphere where you could post one design and the CH would give you good feedback that you could run with to modify your design to their liking. Posting 5 submissions within 4 hours is overkill, in my opinion, ESPECIALLY without any critique or feedback whatsoever. Yes, it is STILL shotgunning, posting a bunch hoping something will catch the eye of the CH. I say it is better to take the time to come up with the best way to bring down a wall than to punch a lot of wholes in it hoping it will come down. Does yours have any kind of theme? Give me a break...

Maybe it's just the CH's that we are getting now that tolerate this stuff as they wouldn't before.

MrBaseball34 your post made me giggle.

    Where to begin?

First of all, i dont know why you included me in your rant when all 4 of my entries are different treatments of a logotype. I hardly define that as desperate, lol but good try. Secondly, the CH is is asking for a typeface, big and bold. What do you expect to see from the artists entering? It's about fonts. Lastly, telling people they should only enter a contest once.....well, that only makes you look stupid and clueless. Have a glass of milk and relax.

Oh, designers, please keep in mind that signage may also be involved. I was in the club business for a long time and any logo for a club also needed to be made into a sign.

mikeal.ambrose and MindofMine, shotgunning is NOT going to score more points. In fact, it looks more like desperation, ESPECIALLY if each entry looks exactly like the others with the exception of changing fonts. It shows neither your ingenuity NOR your skills to do that.

The process is enter once, let the CH decide if there are any changes that need to be made and then submit another entry based upon feedback.

drumadict, it is not doing your contest nor the entrants any good to not leave feedback. In fact, it makes your contest receive an unhealthy rating and that means that the better designers will stay away from your contest.

I'd suggest that if you are going to spend this much on a logo, you take the time to do it right.
