Just another thought. I am sure if they wanted a logo that looked like their old one they would have kept it to start with.
OMG. The comments here are way more interesting than the designs submitted. :)
Hi Alec, sorry about that. I sent you a PM directly, so you can go ahead and respond to that.
Okay, yes, we should all respect each others opinions of course and remain in the spirit of having fun while we design for this contest... But if roughly 778 designers are invested as a community in a contest like this one just for fun and there are so many different hard topics hitting the board, then why not create some kind of community event where all of the designers and staff members of 99designs can voice ideas, opinions, questions, and concerns? There is obviously many concerns, and with designers being a huge life-force for 99designs to thrive, maybe the issues could all be given the time of day at a certain place and time? CH, you have to understand as well that even if it's more than you bargained for in the beginning, yes, 99designs started out with a "fun" spirit and it still is fun... But for many designers, 99designs has become a possible source of serious income in hard times due to economies all over the world becoming harder and harder to survive in... especially in such a competitive industry. See, if there is already 778 designers in this contest alone, for $500, whether for fun or not, the point is proven on its own. To designers, I think that 99designs can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. AND FOR THE RECORD, I DO BELIEVE THAT 99DESIGNS HAS A TON MORE PROS THAN CONS AND IN NO WAY AM I TRYING TO CAUSE ANY TROUBLE WITH 99DESIGNS OR ITS DESIGNERS. I just see some big concerns in the comments and know of some myself. I think that they've all come up now because those with opinions can speak to a larger audience in hopes that some things can actually change or even just be voiced. I know that you can't please everyone but maybe this is just a prompt for more community discussions?
Hey Kristen L. Holden,
I'm trying to send you a PM to ask you something about the contest, but I get this message:
You are unable to message Kristen L Holden right now
As you are participating in an active contest being run by Kristen L Holden, you are unable to private message them at this time.

How can I contact you to ask you the question?
@webbeetle - Sorry i also forgot to mention that we have only been removing OFFENSIVE comments. Not simply ones which ask questions such as you are. I have not removed a single comment which asked questions or called into question the contest. I have been responding to each question asked, even yours which you have repeated various times. The users of this site themselves are the ones who have voted your comments as being inappropriate. That's the beauty of a community such as ours, you have the power to police comments which don't belong.
@chasegraphix - Thanks for the comments :) That's the whole spirit of the contest! We wanted to get the community engaged and do something just for the fun of it since it was such a hot topic of discussion.
@webbeetle - We are not picking the winner, the star ratings are simply to be considered as a guide and form of feedback based on our opinions. We are not providing direct written feedback as this is NOT a regular contest. Please read the brief again, you will see this is clearly mentioned. We are not the ultimate end user here, this is a community driven, fun contest! Throughout the contest we have only been eliminating those designs which are completely off brief, offensive or clearly a joke. Designs which show little to no creativity are being given 1 star. Anything above there, well it's not hard to workout that more stars means that we think the design has more merit. The star ratings are being given by several staff members from within 99designs. Several of which are designers.
'in fact feel free to private message me your concerns in more detail and i will get back to you in more detail.' it is no longer possible to contact the contestholder on a personal level whenever you enter their contest.. which i do not understand at all
You have had no discussion with GAP Inc, and yet you intend to "present the winning logo to the management of The Gap Inc as a gesture of goodwill." What happens if they decide to use the winning logo?
@DonnaInWonderland - This is a community contest for fun. We are sponsoring this contest and it has a prize of $500 on offer. It should be treated the same as any other contest on 99designs. We have had no discussions with the gap inc to date, so i can not speak on behalf of them in regards to this matter. This is supposed to be a fun, community driven event. Getting 99designs back to its roots, when designers did this for fun in the sitepoint forums.
@bojansplash - I did not remove your comments, they were given two thumbs down by members of the community. Other comments made by different members were removed however as they were offensive. This is not censorship, this is keeping the community in line with the designer code of conduct which every designer has agreed to. I am more than happy to hear your criticism, in fact feel free to private message me your concerns in more detail and i will get back to you in more detail.
@ Kristen L Holden
Thanks for devoting a line of your comment for explanation of why my comments were removed.
If stating the facts, pointing out obvious flaws and, because of that, voicing concern about competence of people running this contest is "offensive or abusive to other designers or to the contest holder" then I am the guilty party and I am sorry if so many people got offended by my "truth in packaging" comments.
I can see how anything but praises and admiration can be regarded as offensive towards contest holder so , since you make the rules, I will refrain from posting further comments.
Cheers
@DonnaInWonderland Too back I'm not the one you were expecting an answer from.. but for what it`s worth, you're right and I totally agree with your point of view.
