    hey thanks a lot Terry! : )

em, you do make legitimate points. Your right this is something you can email 99designs about.
I have had various concerns in the past and they are very helpful in dealing with issues and trying to do the best for CH and designers.

What 99designs should do IMO, is to to append the words "Up to", to the "Contest accepting entries, 1 week, 9 hours remaining" info line.

So it would instead become "Contest accepting entries, Up To 1 week, 9 hours remaining".

Since contests Do from time to time end earlier than described, it would be FAIR to mention it. Again, you spend hours enthusiastically working on and building up an idea, in good faith that you have ample time left, as per described on the contest page. If it then ends suddenly, you feel duped. It doesn't make sense, all excuses aside.

So either 99designs should add "Up to" to "hours remaining", or discard early endings. In the latter case, the CH would still be free to choose any winning entry. But to designers it would eliminate Another element of uncertainty, in addition to the no winning entry contest (finally being addressed, fortunately).

Perhaps, I'll better write them directly.

Terry Bogard. There will almost certainly be cases where the CH with an 'already made up mind' will be swayed by a later entry. That alone is prevented by these premature endings. But I don't care about that! I care about spending hours on something only to have the rules change in the midsts of it. If it says "7 days left", it's rude to shorten that to say 5 days After the contest has started, since people may adjust their workflow to fit in under a 7 day period, and not 5. It's common sense.

Rich. Congratulations. It isn't your fault obviously. And you may have won even if the contest ended later. Now, as for your question regarding entering the contest at this point. You inofficially 'enter' a contest as soon as you start working on a design. I didn't 'find' the contest only after CH made that comment. Started working on concepts & ideas on day 1. And expexcted to have it finished by the initial end of the contest. This was the second contest in a row this happened. It's frustrating, period.

Congrats ....Richi Rich!.. so many in a row! Rock n roll!!

em...I understand ur frustratation but think of like this...if the CH has already made up his mind for someone other than you then isnt he saving time for you by choosing a winning early rather than you having work on your idea for 7 days and then not being chosen the decision was already made?.. well good luck.

    thanks hendraku, appreciated.

@em you need to relax a bit! I know that's easy for me to say because I won this contest. However I have been using this site for about 18 months now and CH have always been able to choose a design whenever they decide.... I have been in contests where the CH likes what they see after the first design and choose it almost straight away! This saves designers wasting their time when the CH has already made a decision.

Also why would you enter a contest when the comment written by the CH just above yours reads... 'Ok, we've narrowed it down it down to the final two choices. We got a lot of great submissions. Thank you everyone for your time.'
(That comment was made over 2 days ago).

anyway, good luck in future contests
    Rich

This is BULLSHIT! Here you spend the entire freaking week working on a logo, and prepare to submit, and the contest is "won". What's this! Don't say 7 days if you mean 5. This is not the first time. Does anyone here care about the work people put into these contests?! Screw this. And then there's the no-winning contests at the other end. DOES ANYONE REALIZE THAT IF THE CONTESTS SAYS "1 WEEK LEFT" ETC, THAT THAT'S THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT DESIGNERS WILL EXPECT TO HAVE TO FINISH THEIR WORKS?!? A Dead line is supposed to be a Dead line, not a 'moving' line. Half of these contests lack in integrity. Either there's no winner at all, or a winner is picked prematurely without warning (while others Still work on their submissions). I had to get it out. Sick of the arrogance!

I have gone through some of these and elimimedted what wasn't working for us. I left feedback on ones we didn't like where I could. I will try to come back tonight and finish off giving feedback.

I'm not a designer myself, so unfortunately sometimes all the critique I can give is "I didn't like it".

The frog handprint designs are nice, but they remind me too much of Froggy's award-winning logo:
