We are a stealth-mode startup building software tools to help application developers build and manage systems that use cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google App Engine, Sales(Force.com), Rackspace, and a growing list of other services. The name cloudtric comes from the fact that people often compare cloud computing to the electric grid. "turn it on, turn it off" - 100 years ago you needed a generator at your house to have electric, now you just plug in. Same is happening with cloud computing, no more servers in your company, just plug in to "the cloud".
Every startup stays this, but we are building something different, something cool, and we want our logo and branding to convey that, without being too "out there" that we stand out in a negative way when trying to sell to corporations (our primary market).

Corporate and startup application developers, architects and system administrators building for the cloud. Typically smart, geeky people that like sharp, clean designs without a lot of fluff.
Create me a logo that is more than just stylized text and less than hairy 3d rendering of an electric grid. Something simple. Something sharp. Something that looks great digitally but also prints well on cards, banners, tshirts, stickers, etc. Colors should not be too loud but don't have to be black and white either. We're selling to corporate clients but we're a young company in a hot emerging market, not IBM.
Would like to incorporate the concept of the electric grid in the logo somehow to tie-in with the name itself (cloudtric is a combination of cloud and electric). Some examples (not the only ones, certainly) are an electric outlet, power switch, etc.
Look at what some other players in the cloud space have done with their logos to get an idea of the limits of where we can take the design. Notice they are all sharp, clean logos that would be very appropriate when selling to a corporate client.

Note: As for upper case, lower case, etc- I'm not sold one way or another. I'll let the designer help guide my decision on whether it should be cloudtric, CLOUDTRIC, CloudTric, Cloudtric, ClOuDtRiC or something else entirely :)
