We need a new discussion area. I've entered a few contests this past week and in about 4 of them, people have been pretty much copying my idea(s).
I'm going to start PMing mods/admins and trying to get people banned - I'm sick of this.

It's a open source competition. With blind submissions all will be different for many of the designers.

Get used with it. There will be major changes and i am sure you can all accomodate.

An ideea is an ideea. If anyone can follow other's idea what would be in final?
Blind submissions period will do only good for most of us. Why bother with so many "if;s".
True it's a competition, but it's a competition with open view submissions and no, this is not a market place
for inspiration. You understand wrong the way things are, really.

Sorry about the PM, i really receive more than 10 PM's a day. Hard to respond on everyone, but i will do my best to answer yours as well for everybody.
Regarding that contest, i used my entry in a different contest in the past and Mogeek was aware about that.

And, no, the concept and the way B and D is the same, whatever you may say. Why not place the b and d in a different setup?

I think EmLiams is far different than entzs' and don't think it should cause that much distress for you [entz]. EmLiam wasn't trying to cheat or infringe on anyones ideas thats why he said it so calmly to go and report it, because it really is pretty different and he had confidence that he wouldn't get "in trouble" for his design. And ulahts "police man of 99 designs (encouraging OTHER entrants time-spent designs to be "taken out" or "not even considered"!) What do you have to say for yourself for the point break logo which, of course, you won but which also was clearly "taken" from mogeek. EmLiam had no attitude but a self-confidence if you will. This is attitude, but it is only because i feel that EmLiam was basically "harassed". Whatever, it's out of consideration so you can rest easily entz but in the future remember it's a competition and if you are truly a better designer, then just brush off a fellow designers entry if it looks like yours and just do what you can to make it better. just do that and if in the end the person who you believe "copied" your design wins (like in the ulahts and mogeek case) then you can complain or report it or whatever. and ulahts, i sent you a pm saying i was impressed with your work and just asked you some friendly questions, how come no response? ;-)

can i ask the CH how his star rating is working... what does 1 star represent etc.?

There is really sometimes the design or the other may look alike is twisting a liittle near to the other design is a concept to0?But we must really do originallity we can do it :D and we must hhehehe

Hmm,..maybe we can see from better angle.
We can make assumtion that we all are team mates, and most of all have the same ideas with different practical. :D
I never look on what people have done but sometimes i found that my design have similary with theirs or people do same as i did,find no problem in it.
Here in 99designs people can see each other works, different if people can see what others do in each projects for ex. like in Elance,Rentacoder or else.
Here we don't have to bid or giving our portfolio to win this contest right.And the full control are in contest holder hand.

Sometimes we as designer have to see on others design to find an idea, honestly like i did.
its kinda like brainstorming in 99design people show what they have and maybe we develop it.

EmLiam, you just don't get it do you... Maybe i should do the same thing to one of your entry then you'll get the point.
Why should ulaths wait? if he want to express his opinion he can do it as he please.

Yeah right! using b and d in a similar manner, angle, thickness and shape doesn't make it similar..lol!

Cheating will just make you look bad and shameless mate.

Since entz has reported, I suppose, you should have waited for the result before "strongly encouraging" the CH!

My designs and entz's designs are different; just using b&d does not make them similar. Hope it is clearly visible.

Beside the fact that you used entz's concept (e.g. using a b and a d to form a diamond/roof shape)
you have an arogant attitude too.
I don't know, maybe this is an acceptable behaviour on other creative venues but on 99designs.com it isn't.
You are not at your first time doing this and you are not into the position to act like this.Believe me.
Please try to accomodate with the 99designs rules for designers and keep a professional behaviour so all
will be just fine.

Meanwhile i will strongly encourage the CH not to take into consideration EmLiam's entry as it is too similar to entz's concept.
There are thousands ways to tie in a logo a b and a d. This particular one was already submited by entz.
