Design brief

Brief Overview

Backupify performs online backup for online accounts. If you are worried about losing your Gmail, Google Docs, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Wordpress, Hotmail, Youtube, FriendFeed, Basecamp, Delicious, Flickr, Xmarks... we back them up. More are coming all the time.

Backupify is secure, simple, automated, trustworthy, and unique. It mitigates your risk, and makes you feel safe and secure. Backupify isn't about a lack of trust in the cloud, it's about controlling your own data.

Brand Name

Backupify

Target Audience

Our audience is segmented into two parts:
1. Our consumer accounts aren't used by social media types and heavy lifestreamers (which is what we initially expected), but instead by I.T. pros, the kind of people used to backing up everything. Many freelancers and small businesses also use our software to mitigate their risk of data loss. Small businesses don't buy outlook or MS Word, instead they use Basecamp, Google Docs, and Gmail. Even if they trust those services to keep their own backups, they like the idea of having their own copy just in case. Data loss comes from hackers and user error too, so if online services keep backups of corrupted data, that does you no good.

2. Archiving and Compliance businesses are a small but growing customer base for us. Salespeople in the insurance and finance industries are using twitter and facebook for marketing, and by law they must backup those communications to comply.

Requirements

The logo can be just Backupify, or can be Backupify.com. The word Backupify can be the core of the logo, or could not be part of it at all. It's up to you. It does not have to use our current color scheme, but it should at least look good with the current colors if we decide to keep them.

The #1 thing we need to convey is trust and security. The second thing we need to convey is some idea of what the product does - connect all these accounts together in a single backup system. Connectedness, the idea of a data hub, is something good to incorporate too.

We have many corporate clients, so we don't want to look too Web2.0ish, which means things like reflections are probably not going to work.

The logo does not need to include a tag line. But if you have a good idea that you want to try for that, feel free.

You can also think of logos related to cloud storage, downloading the cloud, SaaS, etc.

If you want to sign up for an account to experiment with the site, we are willing to give you a free one year account at this link https://secure.backupify.com/smallbiz so that you can better understand the site and what it does.
