What is the Design Handover and how does it work for contests?

Once a contest holder has declared a winner, the design handover process begins:

  1. First, the designer and the contest holder both sign the copyright contract.

  2. Once the designer has signed the copyright contract, the designer uploads their work to the contest holder in the requested format.

  3. The contest holder then reviews the design. If needed, the contest holder can request changes from the designer.

  4. Once the contest holder is happy, they approve the payment and the prize is awarded to the designer. The designer can then request a payout, or use that prize on 99designs.

If the contest holder hasn’t approved payment of the prize five days after the designer uploaded the first deliverable, the prize will be automatically paid out to the winner.

You can access the design handover at any time by clicking the Handover tab on the main contest page.

Note: Before awarding the prize, the contest holder should check the design is original and in an appropriate format.
