99designs members are creative, talented people who are passionate about design and business. These guidelines help us make sure we're all on the same page.
Specific guidelines are available for contest holders and designers.
-
Just a little respect.
99designs is a large, global community of lots of different people. We'll never agree on everything, but remember: when you disagree, be polite and respectful. The community depends on it!
-
Respect other people's intellectual property.
Every designer here puts their talent on the line every day. That’s why we're serious about protecting copyrights and intellectual property rights. People here don't post or use any content they don't own — it's just not cool. See the copyright/ip page for more.

What are you saying?
At 99designs, you're communicating in a global marketplace, and the text and images you post to the site stay online for everyone to see. So before you post something, make sure you're happy with the way it presents you to the world
-
Speak your mind.
Don't be shy! Thoughtful, constructive criticism helps designers improve their skills, and helps contest holders get the designs they need. We know you'll phrase your comments politely and respectfully, so don't hold back.
-
There are no bad days here.
We all have bad days … but not at 99designs! This place is all about fun, so leave your frustrations at the door. We'll show you how to have a good time — and one that won't leave you hurting tomorrow. We promise!
-
Keep it clean!
We admit it: we get offended easily. Please don't post any content that might make us gasp, blush, or close the browser. We came here to have fun, just like you!
-
Surprise, surprise!
Occasionally, you might run into content that surprises you — in a bad way! Whether it's an offensive comment, a copied design, or someone doing something stupid, just report the problem to our staff using the contact form or the “report contest” button on the contest page. We — with the help of Creampuff, our slightly over-protective Doberman pinscher — will handle it.
-
Communication: It's a two way street.
This site grows and changes all the time, and, well, occasional glitches might pop up (though she likes to believe it, Creampuff's no coder). Please tell us about the problem, then sit tight. We're on the case!
More generally, let us know what you like, and what you don't, and make sure you check the blog for upcoming feature and status updates.
