Shortcut cheat sheet: Adobe Photoshop

Hey guys and gals! It’s time for the next 99designs Shortcut Cheat Sheet.

This time it’s Adobe Photoshop — perfect for pretty much anything except for logo design!

(Remember: Photoshop is a raster-based design program and logos have to be vector — an example program for vector is Adobe Illustrator)

Check out our other Shortcut Cheat Sheet: Adobe Illustrator — print them out and start a Shortcut collection!

Next in line is CorelDRAW and Adobe InDesign!

As always, if you have any others you want to see, let us know in the comments :)

@supa > Yes. There is a simple cheat for winning 99design contest. “Understanding The CH Demand”

The one shortcut that I use most often is “Ctrl + Alt + Right Click” to select layer.

Hi, Kaitlyn Thanks for your nice tips. But I want to know more about how to minimize Mega Bite of the submitted file size. Because when I make Letter Head Pad,Envelope & Card the file size exceed 8M.B.

Thanks Kaitlyn for sharing this really useful Photoshop shortcut cheatsheet! Although I’m an experienced user of Photoshop this is still very handy for checking a particular shortcut as it’s hard to memorize all of them, although I knew of most of those that you’ve got on there, a few I didn’t know about and it still serves as a excellent source of quick reference. Even better that you’ve included Mac and PC shortcuts as I use both. Thanks!

    Hi to all!
I do not have Adobe Illustrator to do the logos. Before, I used Coreldraw (trial version only), and my time ends up. The only application available right now that I can use is Adobe Photoshop and it is not trial. I know it not a vector based, but can I use it for designing logos anyway (like increasing the resolution and or exporting as AI file) ?

    Thanks much!

      Hi Yaku,

No, you can not use Photoshop for logo designs. Unfortunately, even if you raise the resolution and export it as an AI file… it will still be a raster design (just in a vector program). I’d suggest that you try the Illustrator trial for a month and if you really like it, buy a version. Hope this helps… Cheers!

I think this might be the Illustrator cheat sheet by mistake. Not all of the letters match up. Also I noticed that on both this and Illustrator you have ctrl/cmd-shift-0 for actual pixels when it should be ctrl/cmd-1. I looked at this because I know I used to be able to use a quick key but can’t remember what it was. When zooming in tight and working with the pen tool, you sometimes need a quick overview of the whole image and without releasing the pen tool. I can’t remember how that is done. Can anyone enlighten me? I thought it was holding down the ‘H’ key but … no. Thanks for all the great and helpful articles. I’ve got a lot to learn and these are a fab resource.

Um…A bunch of the shortcuts under “tools” are incorrect. And knowing shortcuts does NOT “give you professional looking designs,” it only speeds up your workflow.

    C – Crop
    E – Eraser
    T – Type
Command- T is Free Transform not E
    W – Wand
    L – Lasso
H – Hand is lame, use the Space bar

Weird. Thanks for this! And I agree, Space bar is my favorite shortcut. ;)
