How did you get started in design?
Since I was a child I have always loved to draw. Starting in kindergarten and all the way through high school, art has been my passion. I loved drawing Marvel superheroes, anime, and mangas.
In college I started to learn how to paint digitally using photoshop. It took me a very long time to master the basics of that program while juggling my coursework for my nursing major. I kept at it and after months of reading PS tutorials, I got comfortable using this program to make everything from digital cartoon paintings to vectors.
How do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from great designers I find all over the Internet. The first tutorials I followed on the net were from www.melissaclifton.com. However, I get the majority of my inspiration from the Lord. He gave me my talent so each time I design, I dedicate my work to HIM.
What led you to start using 99designs.com?
I learned about 99designs from a blog and tried to enter a few contests but after a couple of unsuccessful attempts – I left the site. I decided I needed to practice my design skills because I was getting discouraged by seeing all the other great designs. Ultimately, these designers became my motivation.
After a long period away from the site, I came back to 99designs and finally got my first win. My confidence grew, I began to enter more contests and fortunately – I kept being blessed with more wins.
Clients began to contact me directly for future projects. Being on 99designs has greatly improved my conceptualization and designing skills. This site and all the talented designers here have been a great inspiration for me and has also helped me find some Pinoy friends :).
What are some of the most important things that designers can do to have success at 99designs.com?
1) Pay attention to what the client needs and has written in the design brief.
2) Be Original with your designs – don’t try to imitate high-rated entries.
3) Don’t get discouraged if you get a low rating – take it as a part of the learning process.
What do you love most about being a designer?
I love being a designer because it brings me a lot of great opportunities and boosts my confidence and self esteem. Also – it’s a great feeling when you see other people’s work that you love.

Yeah your right, never forget God when blessings come. To be honest, i never thought that i did this all by myself. Its all because of the Lord’s Help. If you really want to improve your skills, of course you have to find inspirations from great designs inside and outside 99designs. read tutorials and follow them. apply the techniques. and best of all, you have to dedicate your work to the Lord! if you win, you should share your blessing to those in need, and bring back your 10 percent to your church. that way, its impossible you cant win. thats how i work…all the best concept comes from heaven and you cant o it all by yourself. hehe thats how i do it but its up to you whether you believe or not hehehe Godbless to us All

#1 because you give the glory to God….(It’s nice to know that there is other designers that also believe in God and praise him.)
#2 It’s an encouragement to see someone as good as you are now say that they didn’t win any contests at first….(I still haven’t and I’ve entered almost forty different contests…
