On May 17th, 99designs triumphed in the first-ever Pushup Charity Challenge!

99designs is big on giving back. We love hosting contests for not-for-profit organizations, and supporting them, and so were thrilled when the folks at fellow San Francisco startup Udemy invited us to participate in a charity event they were organizing. Along with Udemy, HotelTonight, Zaarly and GitHub, we took part in the first-ever (so far as we’re aware) Startup Pushup Charity Challenge on May 17th in San Francisco. Here’s how it worked: each company selected 5 employees to compete in a pushup relay race – first team to 100 pushups the fastest won. After a few weeks of dedicated fundraising and Twitter smack talk, we did 100 effortless pushups for our charity DonorsChoose.org.
Appreciating our Australian origins (we were founded in Melbourne back in 2008), our team (which included our CEO, CMO, two community team members and a customer support rep) dressed as Crocodile Dundees – and a kangaroo.
Want to see the fun for yourself? Check out the official 99designs video of the event, as well as some fantastic action shots and let us know what you think:
We’d like to send a BIG THANK YOU to event organizers Dan, Max and Holly from Udemy; our amazing competitors who made the event a blast; our pushup team who did an award-winning job and 99designs staff members Lauren and Garrett for their awesome motivation.
