99designs is pushing up for charity: Help us raise money for DonorsChoose.org!

Our San Francisco office (the rest of our team are in Melbourne and London) is participating in a unique challenge May 17th, and we thought you just might want to know about it! The first-ever Startup Pushup Charity Challenge pits 99designs against four other great Bay Area startups (Udemy, Zaarly, HotelTonight and GitHub) in a relay-style competition to see which team can pump out 100 pushups the fastest – all to benefit five fantastic charities. Each company will have its own theme song (suggestions welcome!) and costumes, and it should be a lot of fun.

We’ve chosen to support DonorsChoose.org, which connects donors with teachers who need classroom supplies. The other not-for-profits being supported include LiveStrongMuttville Senior Dog Rescue, Kiva Kip and charity: water. Each company must raise at least $2,500 for their selected charity, and the money will be pooled. The winning team will receive 60% of it to donate to its charity, and each other team will get 10%. So, at the end of the day, there are no losers – all of these worthy organizations will benefit!

Check out our short video, below, and if you can, visit this site and make a donation. Anything at all will help – and 99designs is matching all donations dollar-for-dollar!

A bit of a push-up fanatic yourself? Like this cause and our video? We encourage you to spread the word via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social networks you’re a part of.  (Here’s a direct link to the video: http://bit.ly/IzSrXL.) The more we can get the word out, the more money we can give to these charities helping people (and pets!) around the world.

Thank you!
