I subscribe all you says, Illumina.
When the CH wrote a note to my work, asking the addiction of other iconic elements, I wrote him: "keep in mind, this is a logo, not a catalog"...
But the REAL problem with peoples like this CH is more on back: when they go to a doctor, or to a lawyer, they expose their problem and hear the solution that this professionals offer; surely, don't indicate the therapy or the process policy.
But when they go to a designer, that is a professional too, they think that he/she is just a hand to realize their ideas... they think "I know what I want and what is right", and fundamentally think to a designer like a material executor, not like a visual communication professional.
When people start with this approach, everything else is waste of time...
Anyway, a last note for the CH: you think that all the designers have done is fruit of your mind... ;o), with this ideas, I don't will be surprise that you will keep something by their work to realize your logo.
Well, I'll supervise your website for the next year, and if I'll find a new logo that should be consider result from one of mine, I'll summon you. Maybe you don't know the law about intellectual property...

olinwenasent, you did not invest much money posting the contest, its $20 to post a contest, considering you were offering $850 in prize money, claiming $20 as a lot of money is rather preposterous. I was watching this contest but didnt enter simply because as a designer, I knew what you were asking for could turn out as nothing but tacky and gauche. you absolutely cannot have a "sophisticated sleek and polished" logo with so many elements in it. a logo in the style YOU were asking for should have one element in it, two at the very most. Now if you had been willing to go for an illustrative logo something workable could have been created. Seeing as you wanted something more iconic, you set everyone out on a mission impossible and actually expected results. If your clients are professionals, and not the general public, frankly, I think that what you were asking for was absolutely and completely wrong. The name of your company should be enough to have your clients know what you do, they should hear the name and think "ah yes, they're the marketing/PR company", and your iconic element should be something far more professional than elements regarding music, film, theatre etc. You are dealing with professionals I assume, and not the general public... and those professionals arent as "dumb" as the general public, they really dont need to see text with several elements in it proclaiming every single thing you do, its almost like you cannot convey that yourself and need to rely on the logo, which is why it will seem tacky. My advice to you? Completely scrap the ideas you had, and go for your own unique icon, ala nike, adidas. If you're completely set on having everything you do in a logo, go for an illustrative one, anything else and it wont look professional.

Oh, you have so great vision about wingdingsfuturacenturyghotic logo, and it is amazing how nobody here didn't catch that idea in one beautiful logo.

Maybe you could "step up this GAME" award to 100000$ "to encourage more PROFESSIONALS to take on this challenge" and try Level 2. Can I ask you sweety, how old are you?

"CONTEST ENDED"-GAME OVER ... all designers eliminated. We got a WINNER! Who cares for logo and "much time not to mention money"

"...you should probably channel all that negative energy into your work and perhaps we wouldn't even be having this discussion." He was daddy, ha?

And I? I spy with my lizard eye...
Best of luck in your next games and other entertainment projects.

some of these comments are preposterous: "farming ideas". I spoon feed the designers exactly what I wanted in the brief... I said "play with type" "try doing something like make the i's microphones" "add spotlights"... no one understood my vision here until I specifically told them what to do... nothing was innovative... they are all for the most part my ideas... if you don't believe that... read all the comments... I thought this site would be an innovative way to create a logo now I realize it's just much better to work with one designer one on one... I do realize the time and effort you all put into the designs and some of them are really remarkable and amazing... just not what I'm looking for. I had absolutely no intention in "farming ideas"... again... I challenge you to read the comments and see that from day 1 all the designs/concepts were "farmed" by me. I had every intention on awarding the prize it was just very very time consuming to comment on everybody's design and give star ratings and feedback and all this... I would have much preferred to work with one designer and focus all my intentions on that designer. I invested much time not to mention money to post this contest and I still don't have a logo. With the negative comments... do your homework... you should probably channel all that negative energy into your work and perhaps we wouldn't even be having this discussion. I do feel bad that you all who really put time in effort into the design won't win and I don't know what to say to that except I'm sorry it didn't work out, everyone could not have been a winner anyway. Best of luck to all of you.

Thanks for the other websites metatad. I have been trying to find others since I stumbled across this one not too long ago. I will check them out. Anyone else know of any other websites like 99 designs?

Well, there is logosauce.com, where the prize is guarantee.
The winner must be choice within 20 days after the contest end, otherwise it will be chose by logosauce itself.
However, there are undoubtedly less contest than here, and the prizes are evermore lower.
There is crowdspring.com too, with more contests than logosauce, but with lower prizes - on average.
But the question is on individual choice: better to compete for less, but guaranteed, or for more, but unsure?
