Brief Summary

We're looking for a crisp, trust-inspiring and modern logo for a business that offers an expert network.

Keys: We would like the logo to reflect a Big Idea (...a new way to work) with a Web 2.0ish, connected feel-- Be Creative!

Update: Is there anything in the way of "Expert" than can be better used in the design? the X in Expert?

Thanks.

Brand Name
Expert Planet
Description

This will be one of many art/creative assignments - so for the artist there will likely be more business coming!

Expert Planet provides technology and services to a large network of entrepreneurs and experts. The entrepreneurs are connected through multiple channels and programs, including web and routing (telephone) technologies. For the business owner, it is a new, more profitable and more flexible way to work and make a career using their expertise -- or to learn and apply expertise we will help them acquire.

We would like the Expert Planet brand to be professional & trustworthy but not overly corporate. We're not looking for anything too obvious, playful, glitzy, or cute.

The logo should convey ONE branding, be memorable, catchy and a little bit edgy/web 2.0 feel (but it’s not all online); professional – clean, modern, easy to read, etc. -- it could represent something of a big idea. Again -- we strongly prefer something simple over something complicated, something modern over something old fashioned

The primary audience for the logo is the independent entrepreneur --or someone who desires to be. This person may be either male or female

We would prefer that any visual reference to “globe” or “planet” be abstract rather than too obvious

Specific visual goals include: 1) Communicating the concept of a “human/expert network” or a connection with an expert in a particular field for advice, coaching; 2) communicating a serious business sensibility/knowledge while also realizing that owning your own business is fun and 3) communicating technology and innovation, the newness of this kind of work and company -- a whole new way to work that is legitimate, highly rewarding, connected and gratifying

Important: We would like to leave space where a tagline might be placed in a typical logo, where we can place a different tagline customized to the audience. These might be “expert angle” taglines, so “Fitness,” “Insurance,” etc. OR they might be a general tagline, which has not been solidified yet. In either case they will be short, and the logo must work with or without the extra tagline.

Other Notes:

  • It is not ExpertPlanet or ExpertPlanet.com, but Expert Planet --- two words
  • Logo must be applicable to Web / Web design apps (so Web safe palette or very close approximation is preferred); Print (b/w, 2C process, 4C process, etc.); TV (potential use as bug or similar)
  • we really prefer Sans serif fonts
Wants
  • Inspires trust
  • easy-to-read
  • clean and well brandable
  • eye-catching
  • ok in the Web 2.0 domain
  • extensible across mediums and for our other business additions & programs
Don't Wants
  • too glitzy, overly corporate, cute, hard to read, obvious with the planet visuals
