for the contest Website Design/Theme for the Campaign for Liberty Rally
Submitted design #14
I only consider this a draft, and I'd like some feedback, because there's quite a bit I'd like to change. I'm interested in a sunrise as the theme (though I'm not sure I like it right now). Since this rally will be the official launch of the Campaign for Liberty, it made sense to me to use a sunrise. Not only is this the beginning of a new effort, but it's also an effort to wake up America. I used the Statue of Liberty blended into the sun, because of the statue's reference (with the crown) to the sun God Helios/Apollo, and because it was once used as a lighthouse in New York Harbor, and because of the reference to the light of liberty (which is part of the Campaign's message/name).
I think I'm most satisfied with the top header so far.
To be honest, I'm not much of a web/graphic designer. I'm primarily a painter, but I thought I'd give this a shot, since I had an idea that I liked.
I also like the picture of Dr. Paul in the huge crowd (it makes him look like a rock star). I'm also slightly interested in using the tree roots as a design element (for the reference to the grassroots causes and internet tools, etc.).
I'm sure this draft is still missing quite a bit.... I put this together rather quickly so I could submit it and get feedback. So, if I'm missing something, please let me know!

My theme focuses on the sunrise. As we launch the Campaign for Liberty we are also undertaking an effort to Wake Up America. As we work to restore the light of liberty to our land, I thought it was appropriate to use the face of liberty herself for the face of the sun. In fact, the statue of Liberty is partially based on the sun God Apollo (especially the crown). Also, the statue once served as a light house for New York Harbor....

Option 2: change in graphic...
The new graphic includes Benjamin Franklin, Barry Goldwater, Robert Taft, Thomas Jefferson, Ron Paul, George Washington, and Andrew Jackson.
haha, I love the Ben Franklin... he's such a badass... and Ron Paul looks excited... because he's excited for the rally of course!
oh ya, I guess I should add (not that it matters/makes a difference), but the sunrise I used is actually a real sunrise in Minnesota!

another variation with sun rays/liberty rays coming from behind the image.... it helps to repeat the theme....

Submitted design #58
revised main page
Submitted design #59
example of a page for links/ways for people to help/volunteer, etc.
Submitted design #60
example of a page for the location.
50, 59, 60 are definitely your best. We like the activeness of your page. Lots to look at.
The design of the Minneapolis skyline with Williams arena looks great. You may even want to use that design as your banner and redesign your site around it. The Minneapolis skyline has a different look to it than the rest of the site, so you want to stick with one look or the other. Mixing too many different design elements is too much.
Stars can be a good thing, but the current stars you are using don't work. Something more bold and patriotic would be better.

Submitted design #79
Revised example of a page for EVENT LOCATION.
Really the graphic could be used anywhere on the site if it were to be used....
Submitted design #81
revised example of a page for PERFORMERS.... the only thing that has changed are the stars, since you wanted something bolder....
again, the general graphics could probably be used anywhere on the site... and I can always change graphics, make new/different ones, etc.
Submitted design #82
a revised example of a WELCOME or MAIN page. Again, the graphic could be used anywhere on the site.... this is only an EXAMPLE.
the only thing changed are the stars, which are filled in, instead of the outlines. However, I'm maintaining both versions/submissions to be considered. And of course, I can always alter it further.
