This is a good start... It needs more modern "pop" to the design. What is there is a little too white and basic. The navigation should be more rounded and have a "gloss two tone" feel similar to www.thirdfederal.com
The market news should be more of an accent, rather than a main attraction. It could even be along the side or something. The logo did not come over nice for whatever reason. I think if you took this basic concept and really popped it with more vibrant graphics and colors, it could work
