Brief Summary

We need to improve the design of an existing web application that is used by designers.

ProofHQ is a web app that helps designers manage review and approval of designs, artwork, web sites, marketing material and documents.

Most people use email to do this today, but email is very poor for visual collaboration. ProofHQ fixes that problem.

With ProofHQ users upload their PSD, PDF, JPGs, Word, Powerpoint.. etc. Up to 75 MB. ProofHQ converts those files into a web-optimised proof that can be shared with reviewers via the ProofHQ workflow, via Basecamp or by embedding in blogs and wikis.

The proof page that reviewers see is what we need to get redesigned. It's the key page in the application.

    First: Remarkably you are awarding money to the contestants and not asking them for design. Hats off for you. I wish I had the CH like you :)

    Second: I know it’s not good discussing that sort of things in comment boxes, when you are not participating in it. Its gives CH a feeling that he is linked with that BS. But I seriously didn't mean to hurt you anyway. I thought rising and sharing the same old issue with friends who have been involved in many contest, would be enlightening. No offense, I raised the right voice, at wrong place, for right people.

    Hi. I thought that offering some goodwill payments was a good thing, but it seems to have attracted criticism anyway. Lesson learned for trying to be decent about things!!

    First, this was a hard contest as trying to design improvements to an existing we application is not easy. As I said above, we didn't get a design that we could use, so in that regard the contest didn't succeed for us.

    Second, as I also explained, we wanted to respect the effort that clearly went in to some designs so we felt that making some goodwill payments was the fair thing to do. These have been offered to abrenecki, amokana, I am a sinner and Danilux. They are GOODWILL payments of between $50 and $100 each. I know that some people will say that we should have split the $600, but we didn't get a working design... so think that it would be unreasonable to expect us to pay out the full prize money.

    Third, to be 100% clear, we will not be using ANY of the designs, so this is not a cheap way of getting several designs.

    Fourth, I wish that 99designs would send me alerts when comments are added to contests - yes I did forget to login!

    Fifth - Fahai Media. WTF has your comment got to do with this contest? You didn't even enter and the two contests that you linked to are nothing to do with us. Given that we are paying money for a contest that didn't give us a design that we could use, I think that your comments are out of place.

    When you see higher prize money, dont get crazy, its a new way of getting quality designs :)

    Hi guys, I think the time has come that 99designs take instant step by asking all the CH to submit the money at the beginning. Guys it really said that there several designers who have been suffering just because of cheating. Recently I won the competition and CH didn't pay me for coding. So basically he is safe from the 99designs logic. If CH has paid you what he fixed then you wont get anything extra for coding. In that contest http://99designs.com/contests/8611 I was a 3rd rank but I only got 150 for the template not for 6 pages of coding. When I asked him where is other 100$ he said

    "Ohh......gees. I made a mistake with the money. I am sorry I got so worried that I delayed your payment that I have mistaken the amount. Dont worry I will send the additional $100 on monday, since it is already 5pm here and WU doesnt work.I am sorry :)"

    Look at the smily @ the end. Friends his monday never came. I send him plenty of messages he didn't reply. 99design says "Its not our matter dear"

    Well I know I have lost my money but beware of that kind of tricks guys. If I continue working here I wont give my files unless I got the money. All CH seems very friendly during the competition but after that they cheat you like enemy.

    alright ... maybe i'm new to this ... but i think this is really unfair ... if you go to the market and take a bite of several apples , but you think no one is sweet enough , you still pay for it (well in my country it's either that or jail ! ) ... i mean come on people we have all spent so much time and efforts on it ... we even did not only one but all sort of propositions ... is it really ok to "run away" like this ? ... he clearly don't care anymore .... why don't he just choose the one who has the more chances to satisfy them ... and give him the directions until it's finished ?

    this is really unfortunate ... why am i such a "bad contests" magnet !

    I also recieved a PM. What's happpening (to my understanding), as the CH explained, is he can't use any of the entries, but liked some of our ideas, so he's splitting the $600 between several entrants rather than not pay anyone. I have sent my payment details to the CH, but a look at his login page suggests he hasn't logged in recently. Perhaps he's ill again.
