I think in these designs, Service needs to be bigger and the local smaller. A cleaner hand font would be better as well.

Thanks Cafe, I see the connection with street sign but can we find an alternative. Like the bolder font versions at the top.
P.S. Some form of cool search glass or a stylised version of seacrh some sort. Keep it simple.

hmmmm cafe, as much i hate to admit it I dont think we are going along too well here... Overall I think it looks static? and the icon is well... too iconish. Colour is to weak. Font is to static. Try some kerning, font combinations etc etc. Dont want icon type illustration as such - the glass is to detailed and to iconish! The logo is going to either have to use a really unique font eg www.careerone.com.au or have a really universally strong appeal of some kind. Maybe try a combination fonts like you did in boxfox. Hope this helps inspire you?

I think i get tie in withe the idea that make "service" bolder an local smaller too much.
