for the contest Need great web 2.0 design for hosting company
Submitted design #5
As stated in your brief, redesign is more simplified, web2.0-ish, and hopefully creative. Text is already placed, there's also space above for 3-4 links, and more space below for 3-4 unimportant links. Server graphic is a completely original artwork, and vector based. There are also no copyright issues. Appreciate your thoughts.

So any comments? Here's a refined sample with a few changes. Server racks are now customized to the brand, and much more detailed. As with the previous sample, the machines are completely original (no traces, rips, or copyright issues) and vector based.

Thanks for the submission!
I think out of all the submissions so far I like this layout the best. The plans are easy to see, the layout is very simple and easy to navigate. I feel like it is too plain though. I'm not sure if it needs maybe some graphics or something else. I'd like to see a more visually appealing page.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what I can cook up.

Sorry, previous entry was wrong iteration, here's the right one. Here's the summary again:
Another sample. As requested, page looks richer, with badges and icons scattered around. As with the servers, these are also 100% vector-based, original and rip-free. A couple other things have been refined to match up with the new elements.
I don't know what you need in the page exactly, but I figure a login box and domain availability were probably very likely. The third box at the side can be anything, "Contact"-box with numbers/chat/email, or "Acceptance"-box stating what payment option you accept, or another "Login"-box but for webmail. Its empty for now (to save time), let me know which you plan on placing. Thanks again.

Great revision! I really like the added icons and effects. Currently I think it might be too large for a normal page. If the picture is the same size as a site I can only see a little over half of it on my screen without scrolling down. The far right box can be used for livechat.
One of the concerns brought up by the other admins is the ability to make sub-pages for this design. If your design was picked would you be available to create sub-pages for an added fee? If so, what do you think you would charge per sub-page? We'd also like to see this with some type of background, possibly centered as if it were a site and not just a picture. We are currently not sure about the solid background color or if it might look fine with something behind it and centered on the page.
Great work, this is definitely one of our favorites so far!

Thanks for the detailed feedback, appreciate it.
Concerning the subpages, yes I'll be available for those. I'll put up 2 subpage examples soon for you to check out. Not sure yet on the fees, probably not a lot since sub-pages generally don't require that much detail compared to the front page. Guess it depends on whats required, does the control panel also need redesigning? Any other pages not viewable to the general public also required?
I'll post a revised front page, and the 2 subpage examples soon. Thanks again.

Here is the mainpage with the elements compressed a bit to save space. About 60% more should be visible without scrolling. Also added is the background of a large-sized & faded logo (permission from Borzoid granted by the way). Livechat box is now filled, including the new icon.

Example of another subpage, Service Testimonials.

Sidenote: Ticks and crosses are original works. The Visa/Mastercard/PayPal/Truste/Verisign graphics are samples only, can put up anything thats offered.
Regarding design #20
Sidenote: The images inside the roundy box are supposed to be screenshots of the website belonging to the customer. Didn't have any examples, so I used the frontpage.
Regarding design #18
Sidenote: If you look carefully, the reflection & shadows from the server hardware is intersecting with the background. Unfortunately this is unavoidable, but it can be made to work with the PNG transparancy fix. Personally I'm not too keen on the background-object idea, especially with the elements now closer together. The first three entries above show a subtle gradient-based background (top-to-bottom) which works a little better I think. But its your call :).

Thanks for the samples! They are getting better which each revision. Also thanks for showing us some sub-page mock ups. This makes it much easier to visualize the site as a whole. Do you have any ideas for what it will look like as a webpage (full screen)? Will the current design be centered with a margin on each side? Or would this stretch to 100% width?
I will be getting together with the other admins of x10 this weekend and will have some more feedback this Sunday.
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. Currently the template is set as a centered-box/fixed-width template with margins on either side, suited for 1024 horizontal pixel resolutions. Reason for this is two-fold, speedy construction, and no text problems. It can very easily be made to stretch though, a little more DIV+CSS work needs to be done on the hardware sections, using the PNG Alpha-Transparancy fix (not sure if your coder can handle that), and proper text usage to ensure it doesn't look weird at high resolutions.
Thanks again.

Hi,
What are your thoughts on the background behind the site if it is centered? My resolution is higher than the 1024 and if it was centered(We want centered :)) what would the margins that the site doesn't cover look like?
Do you do coding? If so how much do you charge?
Regarding design #18
I was planning on having it look pretty much the same, whiteish header/footer & navy-blue background. Thought that 'open' look would lend itself well to the web2.0 theme you're after :). Though a closed box is also doable, just not as attractive.
As for coding, I'm afraid I don't offer that service yet. Techically I can code, but I'm way too slow. I'll help your coder deal with any DIV issues that hee/she can't solve, as well as the PNG transparency fix needed if you plan on going ahead with the background-logo idea.
