Good Start. I prefer the side menu to the right hand side. I still think it is a little too simple. But maybe you are still adding to it? The date of the blog entry... can something more be done there?

A little bit more eye candy this time. It's not finished yet, but should give you a general idea of the design. There is also a custom single post page that follows the same theme.
The last few posts under each category is also displayed in the sidebar.
