Just FYI, any use of a red cross element will result in a Cease and Desist letter from the Red Cross, it's a registered trademark.

I am very confused! The design asked for the logo to be very easily identified by children, but every design that has the most stars and not eliminated are very professional,clean and for a company aimed at the adult market! No child I know would recognize it as a medical site or clinic.

^Im kind of wondering that myself...Why must it be recognizable by children is this a community type centre Dr or a professional private practice? because whenever i went to the doctor as a kid im pretty sure the sign on the door appealing to me meant very little.

The brief didn't ask that the logo be easily identifiable to children, but rather if there wasn't any art that was identifiable as specifically medical then the logo was futile.
If I read the name "Waverley Professional Center" I'd think any number of things: a law firm, a building offering multiple services, etc. I believe that what the CH is trying to get at is that the logo needs to have a direct link or affirmation of it being associated with medical practice, without any room for doubt.
Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

If a 10-year-old child cannot recognize that it is for a medical practice, it is not good enough for us.
------------------------What do kids care!? it's us adults that pay the consultations, they should just be grateful we're taking them to the doctor in the first place.

SweetShe has said it right. The design is not meant for children but meant for adults. We need that it implies the type of business (Medical)

If your design scored low, maybe because it is too complex, too many colors or the text is not clear.

@neuromancer,
I made a logo for a charity many years ago that had a slanted, rounded red cross shape in it, and I received a C&D letter from the American Red Cross, so even if you make small changes, they might still consider it trespassing on their trademark and serve you notice.

i don't know that you'd want to use a caduceus for a logo.. its been used by the AMA (and armed forces?) and isn't really for branding of a logo i don't think... maybe stylized it might work i dono

Your own design idea given in your brief says that "is to make the letter “Y” looks like a stethoscope" and "a 10-year-old child can recognize it". So i believe many of the designer's work as per the given brief and try to give the best through their creativity! :-)

To all designers that decided to excute the concept of manipulating the letter (Y) into a stethocope,the trick is to make noone interpret the logo as a name (Waverle) with a stethoscope beside it. It needs to be read waverley with an implied(subtel) stethoscope. If that is not achived in your design, sorry it may not be good enough.

To all designers that decided to use the caduceus to imply the medical type of business, the caduceus needs to be of your own production not a ripe off form somewhere else or form photo banks.
If it is not genuine it will be refused. -
