Well, personally, i believe this is not a bad idea at all to reopen the contest with a new brief.
On this site, raising the money value is like raising the bar. You will attract more designers, hence more creativity will go into the logo design. You should just open a new contest for that and make it clear that this particular contest is not what you were looking for.
As for compensating those who participated in this contest. I'm for it. Who like to waste time and money?
Nobody i guess. Those set of logos triggered something else, so i think it's only fair game to compensate. My views only.. take it or leave it.

Hi
Simply if the client is not happy with the logos submitted, then there is no need to 'compensate' any of the 'close' runners ups. I think we all apprciate the generous offer, but speaking personally, if we as designers 'failed' then I don't see why we should then get rewarded. It's how it goes in pitchiing a job. It is understood that you invest much time with no guaratee of any success, so that's our choice to take.
Opening up the contest again, with a revised buried may be a good idea, or not. I think for some people, the temptation to borrow from high rated previous submissions may make coming up with something novel hard.
not sure what the answer is. Obviously depends if the client felt that the initial brief was not appropriate, and the coming up with a new one 'would' help change the direction of the designs.
I don't even agree that the client should raise the prize money or should loose out on this one. The reward on this one was above aveerage in general and we simply as designers just did not get the job done. Why should we then expect a disbursement then seek to ask for a higher reward, that's not on in my books. Sorry, but thats just my own humble opinion.
End of day, down to customer to do what the 'hell' they want. :)

Sure, reopening the contest sounds like a good idea and am agreed in the comment from m3m0Design, but if you dont increase the prize money it would still be good to get an entry or two reposted up from my point of view (prob because mine was eliminated earlyish anyway!) :)

It's your call, but if you want to reopen another contest.. you should increase the prize to 400$ and be more specific about what you want..I'm saying to increase the prize because it won't be fair towards us that worked.. Cheers.

we actually don't yet. i threw it out to professional creative peers and asked for feedback. all seem to come back with the same comments - the "FB" is a) typical and b) not representative enough of "innovative/savvy/educated". The intention was to have other elements - outside the box - be used. The second intention was to find talents that can be used in further work. The company is primarily virtual.
In re-reading the brief (note - this is my first time using a creative board like this) I'm thinking I either gave too much information and/or need to provide very specifics on the essence of forBri. Still looking for that "cool/edgy" concept/element that would represent a Bridge Marketing Specialist Company/Consultant.
Next steps - my thought is to provide a disbursement of funds to the 2/3 as good will, close the project and reopen again - thoughts??

****** NOTE ***** when submitting designs, please include a version where the word "forBri" is in one color. Also, no tagline. Thanks everyone - what fantastic talent!

okay - Here's what I can say - It's an open playing field. I would like to see more creativeness in font and icon use - other than "FB" combine. Note - I like FB icon but would just like to see other ideas, too. I looked around this site and there are all kinds of great creative ideas going around - so time to get outside the box. The only criteria is - "forBri" is read (and spoken) as one word so keep it connected. Yes, f is small, B is big. Marketing & Design can be included, or not. forBri is a bridge marketing consulting company and the name originated from my daughter. Whether you want to use that or not - go for it.
