   I reckon that design of yours getgraphic would look good without the semi circle stroke in the middle , maybe if it was just 2 spheres with the wings aligned so as to look like a firefly. i guess it just looks a little bare to me.

    All, I would like for everybody to know that I really like the font styles in design numbers #12, #45, #72, #97 and #116. I'm not asking for anybody to copy their designs, I'm simply letting everyone know the font style I prefer.

    Hey, whoever's posting NO-SPEC logos everywhere...in the nicest possible way...sling it!!! I've never been quite so enraged, by a group of seemingly pompous design professionals who have banded together under the banner of this pseudo-guerilla organisation to allegedly protect their beloved industry.

    I've been a design professional working in international advertising and design agencies in London for nearly 12 years. Now on the freelance path, trying to grow my own business, I often rely on sites such as 99Designs, not merely for potential income, but also as a base to generate ideas and cross-pollinate thinking with other creatives during 'leaner' periods when regular clients and freelance agencies aren't so busy (such as now, coming up to the end of the financial year when everyone is tightening belts and budgets are practically runnning on vapour).

    You cite the fact that designers potentially receive no recompense for their efforts, but yet this is no different to a agencies pitching against one and other for clients, unless you happen to be working back in the 1980's when agencies used to charge for pitches. Designers don;t have to submit work, nor are they tied into doing so to be a member of the website.

    You also cite the lack of a 'client-designer' face-to-face relationship harmful to the industry and its standards. However, having worked with several clients from this site, via email and mobile phone, I've had a very clear understanding of the requirements of the brief and the client's expectations. Conversely, the clients have also understood the rationale of my work through clear writing and communication.

    All in all, and given that most of the soundbites on the NO-SPEC website come from professionals based within design groups, it strikes me that sites such this have got agencies worried, and too bloody right they should be. They've been overcharging clients for years and this is the backlash.

    If businesses are voting with their feet and seeking cheaper design through the internet, perhaps you should ask whether or not the design agencies and their professionals actually have a desirable product any more. And remember, cheaper rates, doesn't have to mean 'cheaper' work.

    Very very true DLCreative, they are a bunch of fellow designers that can't even draw a circle with their own pen and ask for 10k contracts.

    yet the question is if all work in design as done on this site what would the designers average income be? I understand the annoyance but this is just as much about preserving your career. There will always be someone willing to do it cheaper and just as good.If there were not laws set up in the U.S. and other countries most of these jobs would be outsourced.It all comes down to how much you think your worth.Me I'm a student and use this to learn and hopefully get some extra cash. But in the future I would hope not to be doing this.If I wanted to get some practice I would do free work and help the world out a bit. If people trying to start a career think they are worth 100$ they should better find a new one. There is such a thing as a community (why there are such things as unions). If the best graphic designer in the world charges .50 cents a design and he gets all the work since he is the best and cheapest where would that leave you. I am obviously not 100% no-spec but I feel it has its proper reasons. Preservation of the industry is kind of important.If every company came to this site I think most of us would be some of the poorest people. There is such a thing as economics you see. If this site existed when you first attempted to get one of those advertising jobs maybe that might not have happened . I also understand the idea of over charging for unskilled designs,but if you at this site you already have a take what you can get mentality. There is a chance I would say that sites like this could end your career and many others. Though ulahts you look like you do fairly well for being here since about the beginning I am still learning but I would quit now if I thought 99 designs was my future workplace. Most Professions "overcharge" these days anyway . If every true designer on this site could get 1000$ per job guaranteed I'm sure many wouldn't argue.I think alot of designs are worth hundreds more than they actually cost here.The question is how much should a perfect design be worth. We control how much we are worth and I hope I'm not heading into a business where logos go for 100$. You are acting like the system is perfect as well, when there are designers out there willing to poke your eye out for 100$ and CH's that will run out or steal your ideas. if we could all charge 7,000 for a logo then we improve every designers standard of living. but i've said enough right now i'm personally looking to learn hoping to get gas money and use the work for my portfolio at least the good stuff =)

    In the end, its what the person needing the logo wants to pay. We dont have to join if we think it is too low. If they feel a "Top of the line designer" is the only way to go, Then they will pay those fees to someone. If they feel this is a risky way of getting a logo, then they pay a smaller fee here. They are taking a risk too. There is a lot of photoshop stuff and stealing going around here... I would be leary of hosting a contest myelf.. But thats the risk they are willing to take.

    The endless NoSPec internet trespassing on this site and others is very annoying. They are no better than the rest of us. But to disrupt the site is ridiculous. Go your merry way and do your own work.Or dont you have any customers to work for? Join a contest, Because you are not going to beat this or any other site!

    This is just extra cash. You cant make a living on the site. The odds of winning consistently are low, so just enjoy it for what it is. Better your skills and if you are good enough and sought after by many clients, sites like this wont effect you. If you are not good enough then you become someone who spams boards and cries about people holding a contest. So childish.

    Funny you should say that! I just checked, and lo and behold, giore.com won another contest I was involved in ( http://99designs.com/contests/7638 ) by quite shamelessly mingling up all distinctive aspects of high rated designs within the last minute, so to speak. Now, please excuse me while I'll go "reverse engineer" my lunch...
