    It does have a nice "urban" look. Definitely your first set of colors is better.
    I really like the way you made a subtle change on the font (the dot and word colors) to give that a different look and avoid a boring text logo, like so many others. And the F and the A combine well in your design element. Crisp and clean look, probably as good as it gets in a 2D traditional look where the design element signifies the name itself.
