Dear Tony,
We had a big group call today and discussed lots of things. I am going to respond to your latest work.
We really like the new layout for the app detail page -- the non-modular look is very clean and I think it conveys the message. The graphs I think could be more compact horizontally, perhaps, but this isn't worth too much attention right now.
Here are the main priorities:
1. eliminate the blue somehow. Too many shades of blue on #31 (the facebook blue, the eggshell blue, and the dark blue).
2. Don't like the gradient behind the menu. We decided we really liked #1, actually, but with just the darker green line below, "holding up" the yasnap logo -- in other words, replace the uppermost light green with white, or perhaps something else.
3. use your new (#31) app display page on a design using your more layout from #7, but with the framing as suggested above.
4. background. use the background from #1. Maybe some sunbeams, but make them subtle.
5. Not sure if you meant it this way, but I like the way your 4 page samples on #7 are presented -- with a subtle shadow border and then on a white background. We could present this the same way in the browser, and I think it would look nice -- a fixed width layout with that border treatment, on a white browser page.
6. On the home page, we want to break the mold with a bigger, more centered yasnap. it could be a simpler design, with a different kind of menu bar as well. But it's up to you. We know we don't want just the same header. Think Google style (google.com vs. results pages).
Regarding colors -- I don't know. I do know we don't want to overdo the blue and the baby shower feel. Reach for the stars -- I really like your designs!
Thanks for your investment so far.
David

Submitted design #31
Hey dave, mike, nethaniel and the guys :)
I know you said no baby blue and work on the colour schemes generally - I'm sitting around playing with the sliders now, but wanted to get this across to you as a concept for sliders/graphs and stuff.
I took basic literally lol, so we have a load of full stops increasing in size. But it means no extra graphics and i like it :)
If you've got any thoughts on it?
Working on the colours and other pages now,
Cheers guys

Hey guys, I've been working hard on it when I could but haven't had much time over the past few days - I'll submit a new design for you guys tonight. Will also give you guys a page with each of the colours you said - orange, blacks and dark blues as well. Anyway, I appreciate the comments and will bear them all in mind.
Cheers, Tony

Tony,
Greg and David here from the Yasnap team. We both like your design in a general sense and like the direction you've gone with some of the elements but have a few more specific comments to add:
* We like the backgrounds, but perhaps you could try fading them out to white/transparent closer to the header, perhaps within 400 or 500 pixels? Perhaps eliminate the background elements entirely?
* We don't need blog space on our homepage; use all the space to entice the user to use the app, more like #19 does, if you would like to submit another homepage.
* The color scheme still not quite there. In some of our own testing we discovered some complementary color directions: oranges, black, dark blues. Light blue is just not working for us, especially with our logo's pink color. W'd love to see a design with a black background header, although it might be too daring, and would still require another accent color in the main layout.
* attention to edit page is appreciated, looking good
* The application detail page (upper right page in #7) needs some attention.
- The "more" button is too prominent, and don't worry about showing the pop-up selection list. consider also using a select list control.
- We like the idea of the virality logos but think something more straightforward might be good. We're interested to see what else you can come up with here!
- The biggest issue here is organization of the various sections on the app details page. We really like the organization in #12, for example: clear boxes and indicators for the main pieces of information. We are also considering using graphs instead of 'quartile' figures -- for example, if you are in the top 2/3 of friends invited performance, we might show a graph like [.....|..] or something. feel free to get creative with that. speedometers? VU meters? digital? analog? who knows.Again, thanks for your submissions and your feedback about the contest.

Hey there Tony, nice designs. A few pieces of feedback:
1) I feel like the swirly additions along the top are distracting. We would prefer something a bit more simple without those types of additions.
2) I am not a fan of the sunrays either.
3) The CSS piece seems potentially interesting, but I need to ask one of the other team members for their thoughts, so hold on for more feedback there.
4) The colors are better, but still feel a little muted. Can you try a slightly darker blue? Perhaps a royal blue color?
5) The little symbols you are using a pretty cool. I imagine if we implement something like that we would want a few (at least three) to show bad, ok, and good. It would be interesting to see a few variations on this. We are still debating this, but it is a pretty interesting idea.
6) The fb content feels like it is 'floating' out there a bit. perhaps you can put a subtle border around the content or something else to help separate it out.
7) The buttons along the top could be a bit more distinct and stand out a bit more. They seem to fade into the background and get a little lost at the moment.By the way, don't take this feedback as negative, I feel like you are going in a great direction, but I wanted to provide as much guidance as possible. thanks a lot for all of your great work!
the yasnap team.

Oh yeah, didn't mention that in the stats page of my apps on #7 clicking the more button brings up the white box with all your apps, and clicking it again hides the whitie box (in theory haha). If the CSS is alright, clicking an app in that white box loads it into the tab.
Yeah - sorry if it's from a designers and not CSS point of view haha, if you need it more CSS friendly or anything give us a shout. Though (sorry for my ignorance here) couldn't the rounded tabs be background pictures and text overlapped? I only tried to learn CSS once, so I wouldnt know though heh.
