Brief Summary

After having such great success tapping the powers of the community here at 99designs for our logo (157 submissions - thanks!), we are reaching out to ask for your help in creating a few pages for our social network application building platform. The functionality is there, but things are not as attractive as we'd like them. The product is called yasnap, which humorously stands for Yet another social networking application. The site will allow a visitor to create a facebook (and others) application from scratch in 10 minutes without prior programming experience. We'd like your help to create 2 pages that match the spirit of the product and our logo.

    Before anybody else says again, you are gonna get people complaining that your prize amount is too low for what you are looking for.

    to answer a question asked by a designer: there is no coding needed and the best output would probably be Photoshop, but Illustrator is fine too. As long as there's a way for us to modify text in the design (should we need to modify pre-cut buttons or something like that)..

    REMINDER:

    We didn't initially mention this in the brief, but PLEASE stick to web-safe fonts. We don't want you guys to come up with killer designs that just won't work for most visitors because they lack the correct fonts.

    Here are the fonts that we would consider 100% "acceptable": Arial, Courier New, Georgia, Times New Roman, Verdana, Trebuchet MS, Lucida Sans.

    If you are using other fonts, please consider what their alternatives might be for people who do not have them. We acknowledge that there are certain fonts that may be widespread, but they still may not be available to everyone.

    EVERYONE:

    Please look at the other designs and our feedback. There are elements of each that we like, but no clear winner at this point. Allow me to elaborate:

    1) We like tbone's use of stylish background (#7)
    2) We like kimkiyaa's layout and prioritization of content (#12)
    3) We like the colors and simplicity of hamilton (#17)

    So, ultimately we want something with a little style that is still simple and with a good layout.

    Getting close to the finish line - thanks everyone for your submissions, and we look forward to seeing another round of revisions.

    Everyone:

    We have come to realize that pink and baby blue are a terrible combination for us. Please avoid this combination!

    So, please do *not* use baby blue. Our logo is pink (but you are welcome to try other colors too if you wish), but please use pink sparingly in the rest of the design.

    We are excited that most of the designs are heading in a good direction. We are working hard to provide everyone with thorough, rapid feedback.

    I wish people would think before they post, our designs are all based off of the mock-up provided. Now use your head, the CH says he doesn't like the pink and blue color scheme, so whats the next best color to pair with pink? Ta-Da!! Black. Which is why half of the entries in this contest have black integrated into the design.

    the only thing i see that i used along with other entries is the black color, everything else is exactly in the mockup the CH posted. If you want to copyright the use of black by all means go ahead! Please go troll somewhere else. lol

    I asked you to PM me so we didn't have to debate this in public, however:

    You ripped the style of #43 and then placed it over my layout (logo placement, nav placement, bar layouts are all the same and they differ from the mock-up so don't try that.) You even in #50, ripped the wavey type designs that only Kim has used contest long.

    That design is a rip, and not your own idea and from looking at some of your previous contests it seems that is all you do, wait till the end, snipe up peoples ideas and throw together a design with them.

    ok so you now officially own the copyrights to a right aligned navbar and a left aligned logo? LOL

    The CH specifically asked me to try styles like swirls in my design.... so i did :)

    Again this is all the top "web 2.0" trends, glossy headers, gradients, swirls etc, which the CH asked me to incorporate into my design.

    You are accusing me of "ripping" the style of a design where the CH provided the whole layout, like i explained before black and pink is the obvious color choice, in the mockup the CH provided, the only other way to incorporate a navbar is by making it on top of the layout, which is what i did and i defined my own style of nav for this contest, do i have square tabs like you? no, do i have a thick black nav across the layout like #43? no. Its my own style of nav put into the layout, and i right aligned the links like the CH provided in his mock-up.

    http://yasnap.com/99designs/detail.png the layout of my template is exactly the same as the CH's mockup pasted above, (logo aligned left, navbar right, title bar underneath, 2 showcase screenshots, 3 buckets on the side) so i still dont see how i "ripped" anything other than using the obvious color choice of black!

    In both of my previous contests i joined less than 5 days after the contest was created, one contest was a 10 day contest, the other was a 20 day contest. So no i dont wait till the end to snipe peoples ideas :) In both contests my designs are unique to the contest aside from using obvious color choices the CH has asked for and making changes accordingly.

    You're out of your mind lol, ive gotten quite a few PMS telling me how out of line you are posting this nonsense and ruining the vibe of this website. You cant even base a real argument on this because everything you accuse me of "ripping" is just absurd, using headers for boxes, right aligning links? honestly. Its just incredible that you are making this into an issue.
