for those who are curious... this appears to be who you're designing for and the price they're charging. Remember, you'll also be expected (as in the brief) to hand over your copyright to them for the grand prize as well..

For the colors of the window, is it the green/teal on the window frame that is our color guide?

I checked the website and they start with over $1995 for starter website. I hope $301 against $1995 will be fair enough for the designer here. Lets just say he sells and make entire website, we're doing 1 page design ? Try to be positive manner here :)

perigryne, the beauty of this site is you now get an opinion :) The fact is, it really doesn't matter if there are folks that want our business. You don't, and that's ok, but you are taking it upon yourself to get into our business that that's just bad form.
We sit down with our clients and plan their sites extensively. We spend considerable time putting together their design briefs. We spend time posting a contest and we leave plenty of meaningful feedback. We give the client a round of changes to the design. We cut up the design, create the remaining graphic elements, and build out the design. We hold our clients hand to get all the content, offer assistance with the content, and place it on the site when we get it. We perform put all our new sites through numerous quality checks. We SEO the site. We install the site to their hosting account and make sure it all works.
Then there is rent, utilities, computers, software, 3 different kinds of insurance, taxes, payroll...
I assure you, we could charge more but we don't. We could also charge less, but then we'd have to cut corners, and then our customers get short-changed. We are here for 2 reasons: Do an awesome job for our clients, and give some good people good jobs. That's it. Nobody here is getting rich.
If you still have a problem with our pricing, groovy. I have work to do.

Note to all - you can change the logo color if you need to reverse it or something. They really didn't have a logo, I just put that together so you had something to work with.

The only things that should be inferred are exactly what I type. Any opinions people form are their own. What people think I mean and what I typed seem to be completely different at this point.
@Imagineinternet - what's bad form and what's not isn't for this venue. I do due diligence researching all of my prospective clients or employers to the fullest extent of my abilities. In order to help the rest of the community do their due diligence I posted the link. It is ultimately their choice to click on it. Nothing else was mentioned or inferred.
You've got me wrong. I'm not pulling an attitude with you or getting up into your business. I'm empathetic when it comes to your justification of your services.. I do similar services as you do, and have been for a long time.
1) I did not say it was a bad price for the work you're asking.
2) I can appreciate you taking time out to respond to people's concerns that they perceived my post was about.
3) It sounds like you run a tight ship. I can appreciate that.
4) The designs you're getting look fabulous already.last but not least, you sound honest.. Thanks for that.

Yes, I agree...the logo does not represent what this business does. Nothing personal to the designer of the logo of course..just my opinion.

I actually agree on the logo, but they specifically asked that we use that image of the car, and the rest is just text. If you do a quick logo, that's great, but I won't be able to pay you extra for it because they aren't pay me for it.

Thank you SacramentoCreative. You have a nice design, too.
99Designs really need to set some standards around here.
I won one contest and haven't heard from the winner aside from the "Thank you for your design, it won, blah blah blah."Also, imagineinternet, I know you wanted fast results which is why you chose the fast track.
Please consider telling people beforehand that your contest may end before it officially ends. It does a great disservice to the designers here who are already underpaid in what they do. -

@psygn - not sure if it's in this new help file, but it's always been a known fact, that a contest may close early so it is always better to submit your design as soon as possible. It is entirely within the contest holders' rights to end the contest and award a winner whenever they like :-)

@ Nadia P: I couldn't find it clearly stated in the help file (I hope I didn't overlook it again).
Perhaps you can tell the folks at 99Designs to add that tidbit of information into the FAQ's because it is vital information for any designer here. I'm new here, so I'm not exposed to every "known fact."
Thanks :)
