I like the second idea much better, though clever, I am not sure if it makes a good logo. Got to give that a bit of a think.

thanks for the feedback. Here's another version minus the keys. Initially, I was going for a 'two-keys-become-one" kind of concept, but I see how that might be misconstrued.

Hi Elle
Carticipating involves social networking and ride sharing, and is not intended for swapping vehicles (though it is an application which I didn't think of). The two keys might confuse the message which we are trying to convey.
